Anyone run this in their Kioti HST tractors?
Thinking about giving it a try due to its cost and wondering how it痴 worked for others.

When I bought my NX5010C two weeks ago, my Kioti dealer told me that the Kioti hydraulic fluid was $39 a bucket. That is about the same as TSC. I have used TSC in my Mahindra 3616 (out of warranty) because Mahindra wants almost $100 a bucket the last time I checked. Did not notice any ill effects after two changes (~300 hours so far).

I ran TSC in my LS the 1st round & Mobil 1 in my 2nd change. There was an extreme difference in Hydro whine reduction w/ the Mobil 1. There was only about a $10.00 difference in price I think.

Running an unknown quality in something like a transmission could cost a bundle changing again needlessly.

I changed fluid in my truck and put in what a dealer told me. After a few thousand miles I learned through a truck forum I should not use that type because certain years of trucks have different types of seals and aren't comparable with all fluids, and leaks will occur after time.

So I dumped the fluid and went to a synthetic type. Ran a while, dumped again and refilled to make it 95% synthetic.

I asked my Kioti dealer what HST fluid I should use. He told me any name brand would work well, just to never use the TSC Traveller Hyd Fluid. Two winters ago, when the temp was about 0dF, I did a viscosity test. The TSC fluid took over twice as long to flow out the viscosity cup as did the Kubota Super UDT 2 Hyd fluid. My dealer put Shell hyd fluid in my tractor, I tested that as well. The time it took to flow out was between the TSC and the UDT, although closer to the UDT. I will say that UDT is going in my tractor at the next oil change and the TSC fluid will never be put in my tractor. If nothing else, it is just too thick to use in this cold of an environment. I wanted to try the Amsoil Hyd fluid, but I couldn't find any locally.

Ive used traveller universal prem for a while now. Here is the last oil sample analysis on it.

Because it is a cheaper oil, I think it is important to watch it. So far, I am getting good results.

Gear drive, not too big an issue, hydrostat, big issue. Always buy a manufacturer approved fluid, not the cheapo Traveller junk or you may be 'travelling' to the dealer to lighten your wallet. Saving a couple bucks on fluid can cost you thousands in repairs to the hydrostat.

Hydrostat transmissions use a varaible displacement swash plate to impart forward and backward motion and the requires a fluid with specific shear qualities. Traveller isn't one.

I have used Traveller premium fluid in my Kubota B26 for over 8 years now. It may (or may not) whine more , but it does whine a bit which doesn't bother me at all. Where I am, there is no need for SUDT fluid from Kubota, in fact my dealer doesn't even stock it because of our mild winter temps, it isn't necessary (according to the shop manager I spoke to).
If you are in 0F or lower temps in winter, sure, go for the full synthetic in the hydraulics. I do use Shell Rotella T6 in all my engines for the extended oil change intervals.

This is a pretty accurate assessment here. Why pay so much more for something you don't need? Simply because the company who benefits most from the sale says its best for you? I'm certainly not saying go buy a pail of Super S, THF 303, or starfire tractor hydraulic transmission fluid, but I am saying that there are oils cheaper than $100 a pail that are just fine to use in the axial piston pump of your tractor. To flail about saying that Traveller does not meet the requirements is simply incorrect.

Some good points here. I did not realize Kioti offered their own hydraulic fluid. I just did a quick search and was unable to find any under their brand. Can someone tell me what it痴 actually called?

If you'd take the time to read your owners manual (have you ever)... You will read in it that you should warm up the tractor and allow the systems to warm sufficiently so the fluids flow properly (engine oil and hydraulic oil) before placing it under load. SOP with all builders.

When it's cold out up here in the north country I'll start my plow tractor and come back in the house and have a cup of coffee and then go out and plow show. 2 things happen, the tractor gets to operating temperature and the cab is warm inside plus the hydraulics work properly and no chance of cavitation. My tractors have lots of hours on them, 1700 and 3600 respectively. I don't use cheap fluid or cheap motor oil either. I don't use Kubota branded fluids in them (both Kubota) but I do use full synthetic fluid, Chevron All Weather THC and 5-40 Rotella T6 and a Nano-Borate additive in the engine oil too. Both gear drive, both hydraulic shuttle units.

I did not actually see the Kioti branded fluid at the dealer, but found an old thread on the topic (link below). One poster provided an attachment of a Kioti 2014 product support bulletin. Their fluid is very creatively named "KIOTI UTF Hydraulic Oil". I guess the all caps part is said loudly. :laughing:

I still cannot figure out why we pay big $$ for our tractors but want to cheap out on after market filters & hydro fluids..I support my Kioti dealer (michigan Iron & equipment)all I can. I have my service needs done there plus buy my oil filters from them.Just trailered my 2012 Dk 40 to MIE (70 miles) one way for my 400 hour service.I want my local dealer to STAY in business & will continue to support them for the long term..

Exactly. Penny wise but pound foolish always gets the short end of the stick in the end. That end may be a long ways down the road but it will come about at some point. I always run all Kubota filters on both my M series Kubota's and always Kubota approved fluids.

I run Kubota filters/fluids in my kubotas also.

I run Kubota filters/fluids on my kubotas also.
Gotta ask, you run Ford oil/filters in your Ford truck, or whatever brand you have? Kohler oil in your Kohler motor etc?

I have likely just about never run manufacturer oil/ filters on my stuff. I pay attention to manufacturer spec and change intervals but run whatever product meets that spec that I choose to. In 45+ years of doing my own maintenance, I have yet to have an issue related to quality of such products and never anykind of a problem from such practice.

Have any of you doubters heard of the Magnusen/Ferguson act? It specifically prohibits any manufacturer from denying warranty work if you are not using their products as long as they meet spec. If they were to try such shenanigans, they MUST supply you with such products for free.

There are MANY quality aftermarket products that meet/exceed manufacturer specs. ANY are fine in your equipment. Travelers Premium UTF is such a product. It is produced by a company named Warren. They make many lubricants of high quality for various vendors.

I have used Traveler Premium UTF for years in my 5 tractors, 1 hydro, 1 power shift, 1 shuttle shift and 2 straight gear. Have never been able to detect a difference from the original fluid the manufacturer put in from the factory. I do not run the hydro unit in the winter, I could understand the synthetic providing an advantage there.

Have several friends with orange tractors with hydro transmissions, they have no complaints running the TSC stuff either.

Whatever lights your fire or floats your boat, I like to keep some jingle in my pocket for other things to enjoy.

AS stated I support my local dealers.Shop to you drop..Good luck with the jingle and that wonderful Traveler premium UTF you just might need that extra Jingle in the end for repairs.In the future when your tractor might need MAJOR parts maybe TSC will have them in stock.Laffin

Same here doing all my own maintenance on our cars, trucks, tractors, mowers, ATV's, UTV, Etc. Etc. for decades. Never a problem from it.
I'm currently running Travelers Premium UTF in my tractor. Works fine.
