How do you carry your chainsaw ?

Nice, but how do you carry your:

2 cycle gas - (Optional depending on duration)
bar oil - (Optional depending on duration)
Scrench - Needed it only 10% of the time, but 100% of the time if you DON'T bring it.
Log Peavy - Needed 85% of the time if I want to keep chain out of dirt, or
Hand File and Stump Vise
Wedges - Needed only 10% of the time, but 100% of the time if you DON'T bring them or a 2nd saw.
Hammer - Needed for wedges and vise.
Chain & or Cable
Cutting Chaps - Optional, depending on how lucky one feels. "You have to ask yourself 'Do I feel lucky?", Well do you punk?" - Dirty Harry
Helmet or safety glasses or earplugs, facemask - Same as above.
Gloves

It's VERY rare for me to only need a chainsaw when I need a chainsaw.
Personally I find it necessary to bring along a 30 gallon tote that holds ALL of the above (except the cable).

Not arguing, different strokes for different folks, but how do you guys get away with it?

All very excellent points but I could also see a need to have a saw on the tractor for when you need to clear an occasional branch or tree that came down on its own. Having a saw for a quick cut would be better than going all the way back to the barn, opening and closing gates along the way (or whatever). But yes, for serious cutting you need all that. I then have my pickup loaded and it goes out.

Very true. Especially when mowing edges of fields or trails.
...but I’d be so scared to carry a chain saw when mowing with a brush hog...I know Mr. Murphy would be lurking at every bump and incline.
It wouldn’t be pretty.

I do carry a chain saw when bush hogging trails in the woods. There is almost always a fallen limb or two, or even a tree. I don't cut them up at that time. I just cut them so the tractor can push the sections off the trail. Come firewood season, I carry all that stuff either in my bucket or in my rear-mounted carry-all.

My system of "carry" has changed since my post in 2015. Now I carry the chainsaw, jug of gas, jug of chainsaw oil in the grapple.

Now that I have a nice new Stihl battery op chainsaw, I think I will fab a holder. I too just use it for limbing and light clearing on occasion. Too many times I forget my old gas echo saw is in my bucket until I take a small scoop of debris and dump it! :mur:

I have a piece of 4" pcv vertically attached to my tractor. I used to carry a Stihl MS170 in it now carry a Dewalt 20 volt chainsaw. I bungy ball the handle to the frame so it wont flop around or bounce out. Its very handy for cutting the little surprizes laying around. Both will nicely cut through a 8-12" fallen tree to move ot off the driveway if needed.

Are you using a computer and the website? If so, click on the "Insert Image" icon that's in the icon bar above where you type text. It's a square icon, 4th from right.
From there, follow instructions.
Or are you using the app?

I would like to post pics of mine but I can't figure out how to do it

Click on 3rd icon from the right in the top row above. A box will open "Insert Image". From there, you have two ways.

1. From Computer: Click on that one and select "Browse" to go thru photos on your computer, select the one you want to up load and it will put a thumbnail of your photo(s) in your post. It will look like this. For people reading the post to see the full size of the photo, they have to click on it to open it up.

2. Other option when you open Insert Image is "From URL". For that, you have to load your photos on a website. I use Shutterfly, it's free, and I have hundreds of photos on it. I like this option better. It backs up my photos in case my computer crashes so I don't loose them. It puts a full size photo in your post so the reader doesn't have to click to open another window. If you use this option, right click on the photo (and by the way, you can do this with most photos on the internet...right click) select "Copy image URL, or Location", then in the box back on Tractorbynet, right click again with cursor in the box and hit "paste". THEN there is a line under that has an already clicked box that says "Retrieve file remotely and reference here"......which is what you're doing, BUT YOU HAVE TO UN-CHECK THAT BOX or for some reason it won't post your photo....who knows ?

Photo will look like this: (Yes...that is a home built, fully functional, built from original patent drawings, Gatlin gun)
