I love what I can do with my GC2410 so much Im keeping her. I need some more lifting capacity-pallets for 1 ton pellets. I dont need a backhoe attachment, just a quick attach loader. Thinking about putting the 60 inch snowblower on it as well so I need a cab. Any Massey recommendations? I want as small as possible but enough lift capacity to handle whole wood pellet pallets. Not worried about my snowblower cause if my GC2410 can handle it anything else will in the bigger classes.
The GC has been paid off for 4 years now

Consider a rear engine Skid Steer rather than a second front engine tractor for the tasks you have outlined. Far, far more lift capacity in a much reduced machine footprint.

Hi cdaigle430,

If you're picking up these wood pellet pallets for personal use, why not order 1/2 ton pallet loads, or just get an additional pallet and load half of the bags on it and your MF will handle the pallets just fine?

If you are looking to get a larger tractor to help with heavier lifts, I know the feeling.

If I were using wood pellets, I would be purchasing the 20 pound bags, because I have a lifting problem more so than my MF tractor...

It depends on so many things. How much land you have to deal with, what is your primary chore, what would you do if you had a larger machine, cost, your age/health, and of course what you really want.

I like the 2605,6,7 H series. A lot bigger tractor than your GC but then if it is worth going to a larger machine you might as well cover any future needs while you are at it. These newer medium size utility tractors have a 5yr powertrain warrantee and look really strong to me. I've never owned a cab tractor and that is a whole other dimension. Any of this series would readily handle your 1 ton pallets. I have a 2011 MF2660HD which is larger yet. I have bent the SSQA loader adapter so bad i had to replace the cross member but so far as you are careful and do not catch one side of a heavy bucket, etc. that is not a problem.

I have not researched the 2606 to see if it requires the DEF disease, def fluids or regen. In your shoes I would check that first and avoid that crap if possible. To the point of buying used to avoid the regen/DEF disease. The major mfrs have chosen different ways to meet the 'final' Tier 4 EPA requirements -- some using regen, some not. I think all the big mfrs build good equipment but I love my MF2660 (after initial bugs were fixed) and at age 76 I will not go to another machine. I am partial to the Red. If you have a good dealer near you, to me that is important.

I see you have other changes you'd like to make, so if you want to just keep the MF and address them you may look into a Sim's Indy Cab with a heater, and a MF 2360 Snowblower, and either a quick attach front bucket system or add some forks to your existing bucket.

Here's a pic of what I use for firewood rounds to be put into the woodshed. I built it out of 1/8" x 1" x 3" square tube steel ( 5 of these extent out from the bucket about 40" + - with an angled frame sitting on the inside bottom of the bucket) and it attaches to the inside sides of the bucket (drilled and tapped) with 6 machine screws / grade 8 / 1/4" - 20 x 1/2" long. I have loaded up with some green firewood before that the MF did not have enough power to lift the bucket off the ground and so far never had any connection hardware fail or shear (still knocking on the wood).

With this set of "brush forks" (original purpose of the build), I can also pick up pallets of split wood if needed.

I know that lots of members here have more then 1 tractor and if I had more land, maybe I would be thinking that way also.

For me from the start for a tractor search over ten years ago, because of my physical limitations, the choice was always a fully heated cab and a front mounted snowblower...

It's a "Sims Cab Depot" cab, model is a "Indy Cab", It has two soft removable panels below the front windshield on both sides, and a soft removable clear panel at the rear (hard fixed panel would be in the way for using the backhoe). I really like it and in the summer I have just started removing the door for easier access.

I do believe Curtis still makes a cab for the MF GC2410 and since I have purchased my Sim's cab over 10 years ago, maybe there might be others that make a hard sided cab for the MF.

Here's a pic of what I usually will have installed on the MF in the summer.

I don't know what the 3 point lift capacity is of your tractor.
But,I knew I had seen something to increase the lifting range of the 3 points and I found it again.
Titan calls it a 3PT scissor lift, I don't know if this would give you the lift needed or if your tractor could handle a ton with this much rear mount.

Yes that is a lot for a cab, but if you got the soft sided rear panel (only style available in 2009) like I have you'd save $750 (2009, I paid $3995 which included a pair of work lights kit, a hot water heater kit, a pair of outside side mirrors kit, and installation).

And back in 2009, I thought it was a lot of money also, and I think if you did a search you might find different D.I.Y. cab builds.
