Are 3 batteries paralleled for each of the 4 chargers?

No, all 12 are parallel to common bus. The 4 charge controllers connect to this common bus but have individual input from own PV array. Each FM80 can handle about 4500kw @ 48 volts. I have 14.08ke divided between them. 1 has 16 panels @ 250 watts each (4kw), the other 3 each have 12 panels @ 280 watts each(3.36kw)

You already answered my next question, lol.

So the flexmax’s are in parallel.

I’m working on your 1 line, lol. I used to do power system design in my rookie career, just never did solar.

Does the diesel gen have its own dc charger?

How do backup gen tie into radians? Into the distribution panel?

I’m guessing no permit.

Sounds like a challenge some existing http://outbackpower.com/resources/documents/wiring-diagrams

Yes, in parallel. each CC has own battery connection via breaker, pV connection via breaker and GFCI breaker. CCc are common tied to shunt. Radians also share a shunt.

The diesel generator will connect to the ACIn of the two black units behind the pole on right. They are FX3048T inverter/chargers. I will operate in Charger mode only. The FXs will get their POS 48vdc from the combiner box below via 2 breakers. Their NEG connection will be via shunt on the 8048. Control will be via the Mate3s to their left, which will set the parameters for the FX to trigger a 12 vdc relay via its AUX connection.

The Radian generator will feed to one of the meters then to Radian ACin. It will be controlled by own Mate3s, not shown, in same manner but to own relay.

Distribution panel gets 240vac feed from Radians AC Out. Not clear on this yet as a bit different from my old system as to breakers and bypass.

Well, the original system was permitted.

This is classed as 'repairs' to the original system and no permit needed?

Good morning, 4C/39F and more than a little windy this morning.

Mid afternoon yesterday the electric supply to this area failed yet again. I thought it quite cosy to later come inside and find my wife preparing food to the light of 9 candles. She was not quite as enamoured at the planning needed to extract ingredients from the fridge in as short a door opening time as possible and later was frustrated to discover that our ageing eyes now struggle to read in poor light conditions. While power is back I should spend some internet time finding a 12V reading lamp to run off batteries so she can still enjoy a good book the next time this happens.

Eric do you have a boom on your FEL to pick up your octagon or how are you planing on picking it up without it hitting the hood?
I have a good reach with this loader, but you are right in thinking that it is tight and I may need to make a short extension boom. In the past I have turned the forks upside down too, which all helps to get better height/reach with light loads. The cladding will only be 1.2mm thick galvanised steel sheet, so I expect the loader will still be able to lift it fine.

David, that's quite a system for the installer to put together without using a diagram. I guess that's an indication that to you and your installer, off grid solar/generator/battery living has become second nature.

Good morning.

Temp is 30 and going up to 37°F. Wind NNW 7 mph. 40% chance of flurries or rain changing to flurries overnight. Risk of freezing drizzle overnight.
What a mixed bag that is.

I have the water softener guy coming today to (a) fill it with salt and (b) service the powerhead. Maybe he will teach one of us how to adjust the backflow frequency to oftener than it self cleans now.
I need to empty the hot water tank and dose it with a gallon of peroxide. That should be done every 6 months or so with my uber hard water.

I got a letter the other day from the lender of the loot for my backhoe, stating that if I didn't insure it and make them the 'primary' recipient if there was to be a claim, they would insure it themselves and charge me accordingly.

My insurer wanted over $700.oo/ year or $58.33/month and the lender got insurance for $10.90/month or $130.08/year.
That move alone saved me $48./month.
The only catch is that the BH is the ONLY thing that is insured, not the Kioti and no liability and no property damage.
That will change when the hoe is all paid for, and I decide that the Kioti will be part of my company. (The company will buy the Kioti off me, used.)

I filled the oil tank yesterday, paid $1.20/L or $4.54/US gallon. Those prices are both 'tax in'.

Have a good day all

Coffee is done brewing. 35° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 43° with mix of sun and clouds. Dentist appointment got canceled because hygienist cut her finger. Hope she is back tomorrow for rescheduled appointment. Conserved energy most of the day. Going to try dehydrating some apples today in toaster oven.

Eric, lots of very bright LED lanterns out there. I have one of these.

David, good looking project.

Looking, I never heard of putting peroxide in water heater. I have done chloride in the water system. But have not done it in many years. Softener keeps the water in heater from collecting sediment.

Buckeye, nice looking fire pit. I am still using a Maytag SS tub for a fire pit.

Hawkeye, glad you have choices.

Prayers and best wishes to all.

Bird, I still have the Sleep Number we bought 20 years ago. Never had a problem with it. Have a newer one that we bought last year. It's a 360 P5 with Flexfit 2. Very comfortable bed. Hope your new one works out.

Good Morning All.

40 going to 54.

Sodamo, sounds like BEF is ready for a trip to the Big Island to make an electrical diagram for you.

Don, Meyer lemon, yum...so many cedars.

Pulled 170 times and the log splitter wouldn't start...I must be getting old...seems like last year or the year before I pulled 220 or more to get it started, and this year I just ran out of gas (my own, not the splitter). I'll get back to it as soon as I get back from an appointment. Plus it seems to start in warmer air better.

While power is back I should spend some internet time finding a 12V reading lamp to run off batteries so she can still enjoy a good book the next time this happens.

I've found the Mpowerd Luci Lights to be bright enough to read by, especially if you use two side-by-side. I keep a variety of them sitting on window sills, so they're always charged and ready to go.

Ron, I don't know whether we have the same thing or not; sounds as if we might. Yesterday, they delivered this "Queen Dual pSE 360 Smart Bed" and of course put it on the Flexfit 2 that we bought a couple of years ago. It certainly felt different last night from the one we've been using. Too early for an evaluation, but it sure seemed comfortable last night.

Good Morning!!!! 59F @ 5:00AM. Mainly sunny to start, then a few afternoon clouds. High near 70F. Winds N at 10 to 20 mph.
Today's peak winds are forecasted to come in at about 10AM. but the latest PSPS shutoff time for this area has now been bumped out to 4PM.:confused2:

Still waiting on a parts list from this latest solar power company. I started a new Generator Plan yesterday, which requires a Single Line Electrical Drawing, showing arrangement of components, size of conductors and conduits between them, and location of all signage and labels, but without the details, the building permit is still on hold.

I also made several current readings using an ancient Amprobe tong meter inherited from my dad, and in the process seem to have scrambled the hard drive on the DVR. That led to a game of cat'n'mouse with Dish Network, who initially wanted to charge me several hundred dollars for a replacement, then wanted to have me sign up for a ten-dollar-a-month equipment protection plan, then wanted me to agree to another two year contract, all of which I declined. Apparently I'll have to re-program the reconditioned unit they're sending out, for free, but if I'm going to go to all that trouble, I might as well make good on my threat to switch providers and get the latest and greatest from DirecTV, again for free. Time for some comparison shopping.

The Generator Plan also requires listing of all the appliances that will use LP, including the generator, and I had to cut the insulating blanket off the LP fired water heater to figure out the make/model. The paperwork that came with the house indicated it would be a Rheem, but nobody recorded the model and serial number in the owner's manual. So I was surprised to find a GE logo under the blanket, but pleased that they listed the BTUs consumed, as that saved me hunting down a copy of the owner's manual to find the info.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

Good morning! A warm 63˚F heading to 75˚F, cloudy, SE wind, 10% chance of rain. Rain expected tomorrow, so a good morning to fuel up the tractor and move some gravel.
Rick, only age will soften those chickens - a few hundred years.
David are those lead acid batteries? How long would they last in a golf cart?

   / Good morning!!!! #102,355
That might be just the gadget to let me use my 3pt implements on a track steer. Please let us know how it works out for you, Rick. Especially how well a scraper or box blade works being pushed instead of dragged...

I doubt if I'll try to use this idea with any earth moving equipment. That might put un-natural stresses on the loader frame. My 84" Woods Grader blades only work on the rear 3-point.

Ron, are those lanterns rechargeable? The Walmart description gives little information that I see?

I found these on Amazon. Same one? No clue.

Good morning, went from 39-45 so far, 53 later but still overcast. I’m ready for sunshine. You guys have some cool projects going on. Got up early this morning, now I’m ready for a nap. Not sure what I’ll get into today. Have a good day guys.

Good morning. It's 61° and very foggy again this morning. Forecast says 81° this afternoon. Looks like our rain won't happen till Friday.

I want to get a good rain on the ashes, from our most recent burn pile, as trying to level the ashes now will be very messy.

I've staged piles of recently cut cedar trees near the burn pile area to use as the base for the next burn pile. I also have a few dead trees, cut in two lengths, ready to put on top of the cedars.

I didn't get to my outside window washing yesterday so, need to get them done today as our cleaning lady is coming tomorrow morning to clean inside sod the windows.

Hoping everyone has an excellent "Hump Day" today.

Prayers to all.

wow, I had a hard time following the electrical discussion, and am very impressed with what David is building.
Multiple systems coordinated by a logic path of operation that hopefully will all work as planned. Of course, just shut down number one
and then see if number two gen turns on. I like it, belt and suspenders.

Have spent the last two hours working on my big trip. I will discuss all the details in the other thread, but having a great deal of fun picking out the best restaurants
in certain towns located about three hours from my starting point. Then I use Google Earth to zoom in on the restaurant and see if it has enough parking.
Downtown street parking is out. Somewhat suburban restaurants with big parking lots or located in a shopping center work best. I also look around the block to see if somewhere else to park. But I did pick a Thai restaurant in Montgomery Alabama, for a change, that was right down near the water in the heart of town. But I saw municipal parking there, so it was a go. Have the home to Panama City Florida first pass done. Going to post chunks of the trip at a time. Next one will be all of Texas and then headed west to Las Vegas. That is a feature rich area to be sure.

kind of killing time waiting for a little more heat outside. Need to get a few more things done before rain comes in later this week.
One of the big travel books I have is called Road Food, a classic, and I'm always checking there first in case I go through the cities they mention.
I intend to eat well on this trip. But I also found a vegan restaurant in Austin that I will try. The Creole food will be fun, need to be careful it's
not too spicy for me. My best friend is a genuine foodie and he is researching good restaurants too. They are likely to take a similar path on a future trip, normally
they have gone the Northern routes since they were headed to Washington, but when you think of all the good food, and different foods, to eat along the way,
my friends are equally interested. I'd much prefer a small local beanery than a fancy restaurant. I'm doing lunch anyway most of the time and if I overeat I'll be sleepy behind the wheel, which is not good. Doggie bags will be used as much as I can.

My wife and I stopped at 23 marinas in 30 days going down to Miami in our boat. We told folks we were eating our way down the coast, as we always sought out any nearby restaurants. Some places were a bit remote and that's when my wife cooked dinner, which she really enjoyed. To make this trip with a woman who liked to cook, man I'd be 300 pounds by the end....:D Like being on a cruise ship for 6 weeks. I really need to eat my veggies and salad, and yogurt.

made an appt for rv to get oil changed at 2300 miles, at local european car place. They didn't mind doing it outside if need be. No one has a door it will fit under.
This is just the break in oil, which they say of course doesn't need to be done until 10k miles, but I'm old school and I want all the metal out of there. MB only allows one specific version of Mobil 1, I think 11 or 12 quarts. Plus a cartridge filter which always gets me slimed, glad he is doing it. It's really not hard to do, rv sits up enough you can get in there.
