My friend told me if he wanted fuel economy he would get a pogo stick.

While I will stick with my Chevy 2500 6.0 for a while since it does a pretty good job for me, I am really interested in how the new Ford 7.3 gasser works out. Seems real promising.

The 6.6L gasser than GM just came out with seems pretty good, but there are factors other than the engine that is causing me to watch the Ford 7.3 3/4 tons and see if they really are something special to invest in in the future.

My biggest issue with the GM 6.6 gasser is that they only offer a 3.73 axle and 6 speed tranny. Even with the 6 speed, giving a 4.30 axle option would be a big help.

I am awake ! the thought of spending $80,000 on a truck won't let me sleep. Anybody that don't like carbs and distributers don't know how to work on them. You spend $80'000 on a truck you better get more than a decade out of it.:drink:

I would offer the same comment about engine management systems.
I have owned trucks since the late 1970s. I have owned 3 trucks since November 1982 so longevity is not an issue for me.

Why would you WANT to work on a carburetor or distributor? Been there, done that. I can find better ways to spend my time.

Cause your not working to make that truck payment?

I wouldn't mind a carburetor, but I have since soured on them with this new fuel that gunks them up. It seems I'm always fixing a carb because of varnish buildup.

Now give me a fuel injected motor any day...

I'm with you. Those other guys can have all this new over-priced junk. I buy old and fix them up.....with cash. No payments.

As far as distributors and points and carbs....my 1955 Allis Chalmers starts and runs better than anything, and will likely outlive me.

I’ve never had a truck payment and I don’t drive a carburetor either. I’ve got a 1990, 1992, 2004 all fuel injection. You guys realize carburetors went away sometime in the 80s right? There’s like a 40 year period of vehicles you can buy without that.
