RNG, your Van project has been going on so long. I have forgotten what it looks like. Any current pictures?

Here ya go, Ron. This was taken a few weeks ago, and shows one of the PG&E helicopters flying over the power lines before they turned the power back on. I have more recent photos, but they're all close-ups showing pieces I've been working on so as to document the work so I can tell what I did when I come back to it later. :confused2:

Here's one I took the other night, showing how the LED headlamps light up the road. First time I drove the van at night, the VW headlamps were so bad I had to find someone to follow to keep from driving off the road. Yeah, they were that bad! I found an article where a guy had used headlight buckets from an old Ford Mustang to mount Hella H4 reflectors on his Vanagon, so that's what I did, too. I'd been using the LED bulbs on my motorcycles, and they made a huge difference in the van, too.

And it HAS been a long time: I purchased the Vanagons in April of 2016!

Good Morning!!!! 44F @ 4:30AM. Periods of rain. High 53F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall possibly over one inch.
We've already picked up almost an inch of rain since the storm rolled in last night at about six o'clock. A nice, steady drizzle most of the time, just the way I like it. Not much wind, either. And it's Sunday, so I don't have to go out in it to get the mail. Life just keeps gitten' better! It'll stay wet here through Monday, then another storm comes in Wednesday afternoon. In the mean time, I've got some paperwork to catch up on and other inside jobs to keep me busy.

Welcome new guys! Always great to see some fresh faces around here.:welcome:

One Black Friday deal I took advantage of came from Eve, an outfit that makes HomeKit compatible home automation devices. They use Bluetooth technology, and the radios aren't as strong as those that use WiFi, but they've just come out with a signal repeater, and their sale knocked twenty bux off the price. First time I've encountered an Amazon coupon, and it took me a while to figure out that I needed to click on the coupon icon to see the savings. Prices are still good through tomorrow.

I also found some Black Friday deals at RCBS and Starline; time to dig out my reloading stuff and get busy again with it.

I did get the fuel pump changed out on the van yesterday, once again finding loose fasteners, and even a few loose hose clamps on the fuel lines. One was so loose on an adjacent fuel filter that it sprang a leak with the new fuel pump in place. I don't have a fuel pressure gauge (yet), but if the old pump wasn't putting out sufficient pressure, that could explain the starting issues I've been seeing. I also had to reset the idle speed, as it had jumped up to about 2300 RPM and stayed there. I'll find out later today when I try to start it again while it's cold if the pump was the problem. I also noticed that the filter is an aftermarket one, and it is installed AFTER the fuel pump.:smiley_aafz: I may have to change that. And I'd probably better check the other hose clamps in the system, too. After it stops raining...

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

The Piper Cub J3-65 photo brought back many memories for me as it was my first aircraft.
LOL, slow but what fun and did I learn a lot as my instructor was a bush pilot.
Heck back then I even had a gov't subsidy to cover expenses as they wanted to build up a bank of pilots for reserves.
Since I trained on my own A/C the subsidy was only $400 but every bit helped.
That started me off into an aviation career that led to being an FBO and finally a Cessna dealership with an avionics facility.
Great times.

Nasty storm arriving early evening hang around until Tuesday early afternoon  depends what weather station you listen to 4-8 inches or 8-14 inches with gusty winds but at least won't be heavy wet snow.

Plans for today...Take Mrs. to super market, check game cams, couple extra wheel barrow loads wood in the house, attact plow to pickup, let Kubota run for bit, watch little football and keep my noise and toes warm.
