When the batteries get that good then the talk about EV batteries may be over and they will just become a commodity item that works for many miles with fast recharging.

I suspect some of them don't believe it when they read Musk is the first to sent up re-usable rockets, and is the first to land a returning rocket on a barge in the ocean. Maybe these are the same people who 'just know' that the moon landing was faked. Anybody here want to fess up to such thinking?

I agree about the advancing of civilization. What boggles my mind is how Musk is not focused on wealth. He put all of his $200 million from PayPal into Tesla and SpaceX and came close to losing both of them when he ran out of his own cash. The way he gathers talent from other companies is impressive. I just watched the TED talk below by the president of SpaceX who I see is the over the top President that Musk would require. It it was not for Musk pushing forward I do not think I would own the Leaf today. Elon Musk has put EV's in the minds of the world like no other person. Yes it is strange how some people think putting down the successes of Musk and his teams is their life calling. For me to think others would listen to me put down EV ownership when I did not own one would be foolish. EV's and travel to Mars is not for all but all should be excited to mankind advancements I would have thought. Cutting down a 14 hour flight to 1 hour is huge in my book as is covered in the Ted talk below.

Something that surprised me reading it recently was that it was only philosophy or religious theory, not provable, that other galaxies exist in addition to our Milky Way. Finally around 1920 better telescopes combined with analysis of colors observed in some elements in the sky, led to a new theory that those celestial objects of different colors were in fact other galaxies at various distances from our own. Moreover, the observations seem to show everything is expanding with the most distant galaxies moving away faster than near ones. A century ago discussing this would have been incomprehensible.

I wonder what discoveries will be made in the future.

So you are asking why we haven't researched everything already and know everything?

You think that every combination of elements and chemicals for anodes, cathodes and electrolyte have not been tried by now ? Every military around the world has been spending $$$ in search of better batteries since the first diesel electric submarine and space flight .
There is no combination of materials waiting on the shelf to be mixed together and make a 1000watt per Kg battery.

I'm keeping in mind how important status quo and bias is in your religion of closed mind.

If a 5,000 pound EV can go 93 miles for the same $ energy as a 3300 pound ICE can go 30 miles, then only closed minds care about how much it weighs.

Total all the energy from manufacture to disposal of the entire EV vs the entire ICE vehicle . Now consider the source of the EV痴 power . The EV costs more and pollutes more .
Sorry but you sacred cow of world peace and zero pollution does not exist . Nor can you wish it into existence with money and research .
