RK is a rebadged TYM and there has been a LOT of debate about the quality of their service people and whether or not they'll still be selling tractors in the future.

I almost went TYM instead of my kubota, basic numbers were that I could have gotten a 47hp TYM for the same price as my 26hp Kubota. One thing steered me away at early onset, was I heard he was great but the dealer pretty much worked out of his garage. I don't buy into the dealer being all to important, but having one near by for parts and for a potential fix did carry some weight for me. As for the tractor the TYM was nice, was the build quality as nice as my Kubota, no I dont think so, but still a nice tractor none the less.

I dont think TYM is going anywhere, they have been making tractor parts and tractors for other names for 40 years or so, it is just until recently they started branding their own machines. They own TYM, RK, Branson, and make some mahindras.

TYM does not own RK.

RK owns RK and contracts with TYM to supply machines. Since those machines are slightly different ( a few perks added), there is some doubt as to whether TYM dealers will service or supply parts if/when RK drops the line.

Sorry you are correct but they own branson. But yes that is somewhat of a concern to think about is machines like RK or even mahindra that contract for contractors if they were to close shop what happens next. MY buddy just bought a JD and had made in china stamped on parts all over it. So I think finding parts and interchangeability might not be to bad, IDK.

I think some of these off brand tractors of the world are very nice. We just live in a more secluded area and the savings of 4-5k just just wasnt worth the risk of these brands closing shop.

I'm shopping for a very similar size and priced tractor. With only JD and Kubota dealers within a 2 hour drive the L2501 and 3025E have been the main contenders if I go new. The Kubota dealer was super helpful and recommended the L2501 based on my needs. JD dealer on the other hand didn't seem as interested in making a sell. JD actually said that because I live in a hilly area they used to not even sell 25hp tractors because they didn't have the power. I'm wondering if this is more due to the lack of a 3 range transmission in the E line or a weaker engine compared to kubota?

So far everything is pointing to the L2501 being more tractor than the 3025E but the 3025E having slightly better comfort.

L2501 advantages - 3 range transmission, removable loader, heavier weight
3025E- dual pedals, rubber floor, controls seemed a little nicer.

Personally, I use a tractor for work (as I assume you will as well), and that to me does not pose a need for creature comfort. Now, that may change as I get older, but at 28 years old, I don't need an air suspension in my seat, or cup holders, dual pedals, etc. That would also change if I spent 8 hours a day on the machine, but I do good to average 2 hours a week. This time of year, I essentially let it idle 20-30 minutes every couple of weeks because my yard is too wet to even pull it out. During the summer it may get 4-6 hours a week.

All that to say, I'd choose a more mechanically sound or more powerful machine over a comfortable but less capable machine for the same money. Hence why I have a 38 HP LS over a 25 HP of something else. In your case, it'd be Kubota hands down.

Buying a tractor to install a septic system is hard to justify if money is tight. You will need a decent backhoe and they are not cheap. Look at taking that job out of your needs/wants list.

Make a detailed list of the jobs you need to do and what they will cost. You also need a spreadsheet for the different tractors and attachments and their costs. I used those spreadsheets to not only help in making my decision but to convince my fiancé when I did my shopping last year. Renting or contracting out one time jobs usually makes more sense. Be brutally honest with yourself and a good answer will jump out at you. A perfect answer is going to drive the price up.

I moved to my 20 acres 7 years ago and waited 5 years to get my first tractor. It was a small, used JD 855 and had its limitations, but it taught me a lot.

If you have property, any tractor is better than nothing. Get a tractor that will address 100% of your needs (those tasks that cannot be economically accomplished without renting or contracting) and most of your wants. For example, you may want to lift a 2000 lb load of bricks with pallet forks but you can get the job done by lifting two 1000 lb pallets or four 500 lb pallets.

Do not be swayed by the 0% financing. My credit union offered 3.8% over 7 years and I got a better tractor with a lower payment than the Kubota option. YMMV.

The job was completed. However, the durt he dug up had to be put someplace. It is all over the area behind my house right now. a mud pit. It needs leveled out and then grass planted. Its to large of an area to even attempt to do by hand.

The tractor will be used to clear paths on my property, and bush Hogging for the most part. We will also need to build and maintain a raised area over a wet area. There will be alot of gravel work which also needs to be completed.

We also are thinking of putting in a garden, so there will be tilling work,

this is why I want a higher HP engine for PTO horsepower. Was going to settle for the 24 HP kubota. but seems people are saying no. I will regret it.


The back hoe i just need to dig some drainage ditches. so I can easily rent that for a day or two. better than spending up to 7000 right now.

I am going to another kubota dealer here ina few hours. and also going to look at the RK37, I have already been in contact with RK through their website (they responded within an hour) at the place I would purchase it if I go that route. So I just need to set eyes and test drive one so I can see how it is.

I am still open to used ones. But most of the used ones we see here are b series or smaller or JD 1000 series..

I just built my house and also have a tractor 2650 Kubota somewhat smaller then what your looking at, but overall going to be roughly accomplishing the same tasks. With that said I started doing some landscaping(4 acres) and after about an hour of it quit, the tractor just isnt meant for efficient dirt work. I borrowed a skid steer and probably had more done in 2-3 hours than that tractor would have done in a day. IN the spring im going to rent a skid steer for 300 for the weekend and be done with it, vs monkeying with it on this tractor for days maybe weeks.

I have heard this from alot of owners.. Why i am afraid of lower horsepower low weight tractors.
