I have heard this from alot of owners.. Why i am afraid of lower horsepower low weight tractors.

Before I bought my tractor I tried my buddies 57 Hp kubota, really the same results tbh. No tractor is going to be as good as dedicated earth moving equipment. Id save the money for a smaller machine to tackle legacy task and, rent for a few bucks the right stuff and have it knocked out in a few days to a week.

I think youll find with tractors just by going bigger doesnt mean it really gets better per say, hard to explain. for instance I used the 57hp tractor to brush hog and it really didnt do it faster but the deck was a foot bigger than the one I used on my 26 hp tractor, really took almost the same amount of time. Same with moving dirt, bucket was a tad bigger but still did the job crappy.


I may stray from the pack some here. But after buying my tractor ( i dont have a farm or anything, dont collect wood etc) with that said I would not be spending 20k plus on a tractor on a second home, unless money wasnt a factor. Youll never get the use out of it to justify. Unless you were to trailer back and forth to main home. Also I know there are better and bigger tractor than mine and its a fantastic machine but I have found out that a tractor is kind of a jack of all trades master of none so to speak, keep that in mind.

I hear ya. I am looking for something that will last for a long time.. so want to get it right the first time if possible.

Sitting unused isn't always best. Things rust, corrode, attract insects and critters like mice and chipmunks for nesting. Fuel and lubricants gum up, seals dry out ....

Not the mention the area dirtbags who like to make your stuff theirs.

Oh it will be used whenever we are out there which is at the least every other weekend.it will be out doing something, especially if grandkids are there and it will be stored inside

Well the kubota dealer was nice, gave me a quote on a L3301 with hydrostatic and FEL. Ag tires. Quote came in at 23. The RK37 has to be one of the nicest tractor for its size I ever road on, package wise it had a lot of upgrades, plus fluid filled tires, The used 2016 L3901HST is their now, 1800 no filled tires. And missing a lot the rk has, but also 1800. Of course with that I will need to take a loan with about 4% instead of zero percent.

Guess I will be deep in thought the next 24!

I have a mahindra 2538 ,its the same as the rk 37. last yr i filled a hole on the overerflow of my lake . the hole was big enough to drop a pickup truck in. I was digging dirt out of a hillside and dumping it in the hole . i filled it in about 2 hrs. so dont tell me you cant dig with a tractor. Between my self and 2 of my kids i maintane over 375 acres. alot of that is mowing grading digging tilling disking and brush hogging. most guys just dont know what you really can do with a small tractor.

Also a good toothbar is a must for digging as well as time of yr .spring and early summer before things get to dry. once the ground gets hard dont bother until after some good rains.

I've got no complaints about my Piranha tooth bar. One bolt in each side of the bucket. Several other tooth bars are designed similar, including the EA Wicked Tooth Bar. I've never found a need to take my tooth bar off at all. Anything I'm doing with the bucket works better with the tooth bar on it for me. As far as the RK tractors, all the Rural King stores in my area that I visited are sales centers for RK tractors, but not service centers. In other words, they would gladly sell me a tractor, but I couldn't bring it to them for service if anything went wrong with it. That scratched them off my list immediately. I'm not a tractor mechanic, nor do I have big enough tools or work space to become one anytime soon. I needed a servicing dealership for whatever tractor I bought, so they can come get it if something needs fixed. This weighed heavily on my decision. Invest in a quality servicing dealership in your area, regardless of the tractor color you choose.
