How do you know when the fuel tank is full?

/ How do you know when the fuel tank is full? #61

I would suggest the OP get one of these. I've had one for about a year now, use it weekly or bi-weekly and it is superb. Has auto shut off as well. Simple, inexpensive and it works.

This sounds really good, but the reviews raise some cautions in my mind; durability, prep/use/cleanup, zero warranty. ... ALSO, some descriptions say it requires a well fit cap at the connection to the supply can. This suggests it may operate by pressurizing the supply rather than actually pumping it. ... A good siphon starter but not so good upward. :confused3:

My query thru AMAZON is, so far, unanswered.

I read most of the postings and HOPED to have a revalation on what was the best 25+ gal Fuel Caddy and Pump.

BUT I was disappointed, I really don't think there is much out there that is any good, you find a decent tank but not a pump.

I don't think that any PLASTIC Tank is going to last long in either the Heat of SoCal or the Cold of the Northeast but they are convenient.

I started reading because I am looking for a 25 to 35 gallon Tank, hand crank pump or lift rings with siphon feed.

Also, a big thing besides the size is the cost, I really don't want to pay the infamous "Arm and a Leg" to have 25 gallons of fuel on hand.

I did read about one idea (sorry don't remember who posted) of using a UV Plastic Barrel, that one sounds pretty good, but 50 gallons of fuel is a little too much for my needs 20 gallons on hand would be nice (three good fills and a little left over).

Wondering if there is a 30 gallon UV Plastic Barrels out there !

OK thanks for all of the info I have collected on the subject.

Also, My first Tractor was a Yanmar/Cub Cadet 2450 TLB, the Fuel fill was low on the left side, very easy to fill and usually no spills because you can see in the fill. My Mahindra has the fill on the Crowl area, I need to stand in the Operation Area to pick the 5-gallon can high enough... AND I get over fills all the time, could be part of my dirt build up.

Still looking !

The pump comes with 4 tank adapters that should fit any size can. It doesn't pressurize the can, the end has a pump built in to it. Been using mine level to tank, above and below and works great with no issues.

Thanks! Its sounding better. Can you shed any light on how the shutoff works? Any issues with shutoff in up, down, or horizontal transfer? Does it have a tank adapter for the bayonet style caps used on the oblong 6G boating gas cans?

I think I will only be using it for gasoline. - - Off road diesel for the farm is delivered as needed to a 275G tank having a crank pump.

15 plastic gal gas caddy?
Thought I might read comments on how these were the best things ever, or pcs of junk. Contemplated buying one for a few years for ease of pouring and reducing number of portable jugs, but have wavered. Couldn’t one put diesel in them too?

Have not read the whole thread so this might have been posted

I ride dirt bikes and the tanks are almost always black and seeing the fuel level is near impossible. These make it easy to see the fuel rise and they have never been a problem

I have a 30 gal storage tank with a hand pump on the top . You can tell when it's getting. Close to full by the sound of the fuel going to to the tank . If you miss that when the diesel bubbles come out of the top is a good way to tell also

I continue filling until I see fuel at the top of the filler pipe.
