Just a quick look at your area using Google Earth, I'm seeing so many ponds and vegetation, that I can't see you having a problem, no matter where you drill. So as a prior poster suggested, just pick the most logical site for your pump house and drill there.

Sometimes nothing works even after spending 40k

Water in the area, geological reports, historical notations, soundings, dowser... and several dry holes... even down 800 feet and nothing...

Thought it might lead to a family divorce... a lot of money for a dry hole... at least it was a farm so the expense could be an offset for taxes.

If other animals can tune into magnetic fields, why is it beyond possibility that there’s a unexplored rational explanation for water witching? Some people may be more sensitive than others.
...but until it is explained it is in the realm of mysticism, faith, religion, etc.. that’s the way science works.

To the original poster after all the jaw jacking I put it this way.
If there is a dowsing society in your area or you find someone that is or knows a water dowser have them come out and check it out.
You do not have to accept their input you may wish too, I can not get dowsing to work for me one of my brothers can.
I have seen it work, can it be explained NO, can it be duplicated NOT ALWAYS, would I stake my life on it NO, do I accept that it can be valid YEP....
