Actually, your suggestion without question makes the most sense, but alas I am of the 吐inancially challenged variety of the great unwashed.
It痴 not out of the question, but it would take years before I could make enough money with a new toolcat to exceed its monthly payment.
I have 11 other Diesel engine powered machines to maintain.
Like I said, not out of the question, but knowing I also need 2 mowers, it痴 not realistic at this time.

Is the consensus that a 5600 would NOT fare well mowing lots of grass due to the intake and radiator location and possible/probable over-heating?
I would be willing to install raised pre cleaner kit and pre-screen for AC to improve the 5600's cooling and intake design, but I dont know if after mowing with it, it would leave me wishing I had bought a 5610?
There are 50 5600's to every 1 5610 to choose from.

Honestly if you have a bunch of other equipment that has 3 point and pto I dont know why you'd go with the 5610. As far as overheating goes I wonder if anyone actually has a problem with a current 5600. It looks like they significantly increased the hydrostatic radiator with the AHG8 (2014+?) machines. See attached. I wont start mowing with mine til the grass starts growing this spring.

Great post. Thanks for the diagrams on the early/late designs.
I do have lots of 3 point capability already. 3 good size farm tractors. However they’re very large, it would be nice to have a small 3 point/PTO capability
I think the 5610 is a better design for mowing, and quite honestly, that’s why I’d rather have a 5610. Also, the 3 point UTV hitch would be fine for carrying bales, too. I don’t really have a BIG pressing need for the rear PTO.

What would be great to know is if the 5600 is fully up to the task of mowing tall grass all day, with no overly annoying compromises like having to stop a lot to clean it.
Even on the farm tractors, I have to clean pre-screens with a blower a few times in a full day of mowing. I don’t consider that a deal-breaker, but if it’s every 1/2 hour......
I know it’s very dependent on wind, dust, grass height, etc.

Still pretty far over this farmers budget, too.

Spring fertilizer bill will be around 20K. Seed is @ $4.00 a pound and have a 50 acre plot to redo. Just put two new tires on, $1450. Other tractor needed a clutch and some minor fixes $3200. No new (or new to me) left in the farm budget. :grumpy:

I dug in it a little further. The A94Y and older machines have two separate radiators, one for engine coolant and one for hydrostatic fluid. In 2014 they combined those radiators into one so now the hydrostatic oil and coolant are an oil to water exchanger and then both cooled by air. A94Y radiators.JPG

Speaking of changes, noticing 2016 and up machines come equipped with traction control.
Is this a serious step forward in traction? Or does it add another layer of complexity or unreliability in another thing that can break not worth worrying about?

Traction Control is the reason we traded our first Toolcat, a 5610 F Series in on the 5610 G series that comes standard with Traction Control.
