Back on topic...almost...I was going to start a new thread in the 'cookin' forum...maybe someone else will?

How has the situation changed what you're eating etc.?...For many having to go to the grocery store is the only real exposure they may experience so I'm sure most are limiting their trips to the store...and they are having to make some compromises in their selections due to demand and what's available...
How long can you exist without going hungry before you have to go to the grocery ?

I’m not overly concerned. We make vats of chili, chicken soup, and other delicious fare and go weeks on it. I stocked up on what we like. 3 refrigerators stocked. I have been to the stores. They’re stocked, except-you guessed it- TP.

Going hungry - depends on is that running out of supplies or getting bored with what one has?
Based on some web numbers - (How to Cook Pinto Beans for 1 People | Livestrong.com) - 8.33 lbs of our beans should make 100 servings. So we have roughly 600 servings, and about the same amount of rice. Then we have about 100 cans of different vegetables, a big stock of spam plus deer in our front yard and fish in the Tombigbee. Have not planted the garden yet. So I hope we can last a month or six.

What many people need to worry about is fresh water - if they are on public water that may fail. We've about 600 gallons in two IBC totes, plus there's the Tombigbee. And we've a rainwater collection for water to use as grey water.

Stay cool and spaced out.

Nothing different. We've always had 2 refrigerator/freezers, a large chest freezer, and a large pantry. Push comes to shove, except for milk and eggs, we could go for a year.

Something tells me you would be sharing a lot of that reserve if it went that long...foresight is a good thing...

We already are. My in-laws are 80 and 92. We told them to stay in and we pick up and deliver to their garage. Anything the store doesn't have, we take from our stock to them. Also sent food with one kid back to college (lives off-campus, online classes only), enough for a month. Will send more with another kid (home with us for 3 weeks) when they go back to their home. Feels better to have a large stock.

And if you say in public "I have my sights set on a judge", well, that could go bad pretty quick!
