I was a mild alcoholic prior to this mess. Now that they have shut down the rural living bars and eateries... I am anxious/depressed and irritable. My wife and I have went from 27 years of marital bliss, to now we are angry, drunk and fighting constantly. We have declared hatred to each other, I am openly rude to strangers and try to make sure that every human I get a chance to interact with... I want them to be a pissed off and miserable as I am. I am sad to be an American in this insane world. I once thought that we were a country of free men, and of strong patriots. I was very wrong. We are a country of lemmings who fall in line under the control of an oppressive government like good little subjects do. I am now admitting to myself that I am a full blown alcoholic, when I pray to god I ask him to take me so that I can be free again. It truly is a sad time to be an American who once thought that strong free men walked this country and who thought that the government was an entity of limited power over the day to day life of good law abiding Americans. I have been shown to be so wrong on both accounts.
Reading your signature you have 15 acres, lots of equipment and just admitting your thoughts gives hope. This is a virus we're dealing with, not your or wifes, friends, governments fault.
My brother is a true alcoholic. After 50 years of heavy drinking, loads of health problems, can't walk, wife left him permanently this time and he's facing bankruptcy...but he will tell you he's not an alcoholic.
Fuel is cheap right now! Buy that instead of alcohol. Put it in your tractor and use it on the 15 acres.
Don't lose your wife! She's been with you for years. You need each other now more than ever.
You can do things to make money. This shut down won't last forever. Meantime stay busy around your place.
We were caught off guard, local, state and federal officials are doing the best they know how dealing with a horrific virus.

12 new COVID-19 cases related to nursing home in Graves County | News | WPSD Local 6

We are at the start of our COVID-19 cycle. 30 days ago we had Zero positive testing cases and now we are at over 60 in a rural farming area but the virus was doing its thing mainly by people that have no symptoms but was spreading the virus. I think it was about a week ago this nursing home started testing. It was found in 13 staff members and 7 residents so it was too late for Katie to bar the door. As of yesterday there are over 40 positive cases in that home. There were 123 staff members going in and out and the 72 residents. One can expect a number of the homes of the 123 staff members has been impacted by now and some of them are shopping and eating in the area.

On a positive note the area hospitals have been prepping to some extent for several weeks and most have few patients since most all health care providers have been shut down. The understanding of how to treat COVID-19 patients is many times greater than just 30 days ago.

Kentucky like other states has protesters over the shut down of jobs so they will be helpful in building the upward slope of our COVID-19 curve which should help some better understand they may be dead over the next 30-90 days.

Those in Italy, New York, etc know what can happen. Sleepy rural farming communities in the heartland are about to learn about COVID-19 from front row seats. Be careful.

I haven't had a drink since 1983, and that is by far the best choice I've made in my entire life. The irony is that I recall drinking alone, and I realized that I couldn't go on like this, but the idea of not drinking seemed horrible and dull.

Since that time, I have received so many blessings that I never would have imagined. If I could have waved a magic wand and received everything I wanted in life back then, I would have sold myself short.

If you decide that you want to improve your life, there are millions of people just like you, and they can help. Contact your local AA central office, and they will get you in contact with someone.

That's kinda sorta been me for the last 10 years or so.

I've said as much several times recently. It's truly pathetic how people have let themselves be run over with little or no question.

There’s not much you can do about those that have it without symptoms, without testing everyone repeatedly. Many nursing homes now have it, usually from a worker before they became symptomatic. I’ve read there could be 20-30% of people with it without symptoms. That’s why they now changed their tune and said wear a mask.

Hang in there buddy, this too shall pass! It's a test for sure but I for one have been trying to stay positive.

I'm going to go way out on a limb here... But, You are not walking free at all. Nor, have you ever been. You are in bondage to alcohol and a slave to your alcoholism. Until you confront that and free yourself of the addiction, you will never be free. Start there. You sound like a very strong individual with a strong belief system, these are your friends and best tools. Start with those. I once was like you, 22 years ago, and trust me, you are better than this; h3ll, we all are. Reach down deep, it is there. Feel free to reach out at anytime if I can help.

I am now admitting to myself that I am a full blown alcoholic, when I pray to god I ask him to take me so that I can be free again.
As others have noted, please reach out for help. And when you pray to God, ask for Him to take away your sin first and rid you of the desire for alcohol. This I will pray myself for you in the precious name of Jesus.

We only added 6 more positives today so we are now at 68. Sadly some are saying the non COVID-19 may be less than deaths due to the shut down if routine health care and people's fear of COVID-19 if they went to ER.
