Oh, I would have loved seeing that! I would think that most dogs are trainable...you just need to get their attention first.
Neighbors yorkie would try to attack my shepherd while we are out walking. Neighbor never really trained the dog either.

I found out fast, if I tapped the dog with my foot while keeping my shepherd from ending the issue permanently, she would high tail it back to the house. I would tell the dog no each time she came after us.

Out walking the shepherd one evening and the yorkie came running at us. Held the shepherds head up, and swiped my left foot to clear the yorkie out from under her and missed. Took a step forward and swiped with my right foot. I ended up surprising the yorkie and she jumped just as swiped.

I ended up sending her sailing into the ditch which had about 6" of ice cold water.

A few days later that yorkie came after us again. Before she made it out of the yard I said "No mam" like I usually did. That dog put on the brakes, came to a halt and high tailed it back to the house.

If I had known that's all it would take was an ice cold bath, I would have knocked her in the ditch years ago.

It痴 the same way in Maine, although there are some who would like to change that. It doesn稚 help that a woman was killed a few years ago by a hunter who thought she was a deer. Second time in 30 years...:(
Getting back to the dogs running onto posted land; generally they are chasing a bear or raccoon which started on another property. That痴 another thing which is different here than in other states; the game does not belong to the landowner.

I'm not sure the game belongs to the landowner anywhere, but the land does and the dogs have no right to continue!!

If you shot the mans dog you ought to have been man enough to told him you did it instead of lying to him, but most likely you knew if you did you would probably get the chance to try out that dental insurance for some re-constructive work, and while I agree a dog hunter should make every effort to keep his dogs off of property he doesn't have permission to hunt, sometimes things happen out of our control, seems heavy handed, but you never know someday something might happen out of your control and you may inconvenience someone a little and you might get to reap what you have sowed.

Really?? If he was man enough he would learn to control his dogs or get rid of them if he cant!! And if he were to try out my dental insurance he might end up planted next to his dog!!:D

It's amazing how many city slickers, urbanites and gun banners can't fathoms this simple fact. All they see is "Kill! Kill! Kill!". My bet is that it's projection. If they can't trust themselves no wonder they can't trust anyone else.

They have no clue.. for the most part anyway..

Ahhh Yorkies!! Great little dogs but they have no clue of their size, I had one and once I had several elk come in the back yard and she was out there running around barking and causing a scene.. I was just hoping he didn't get stomped!! Loved that little guy!

Putting a smiley face at the end of that statement doesn't make it okay.

I'll just assume you tend to over state yourself.

If not then I'll go back to my earlier statement. Glad you aren't my neighbor.

The owner of the garage I used to patronize was bragging one day of what he did to the neighbors dog: put out meat laced with ground up glass. He may or may not have been serious but it was the last time that I did business with them.

Turns out she was the wife of a United States District Court Judge. She only had to make a public apology to the cop.
Trespassing is also a social status thing. Lots of privileged people think theyæ±*e above the law.
They are, and that case proves it.

In my opinion, "claiming" to have done it is just as bad as the act itself. Maybe even worse.

We get dogs on are property from time to time ,When the next door dog comes over my wife sends a text to the owner and they come over with a dozen eggs for us and take the dog home no big deal , We just don't want the dog getting kicked or run down by the horses. If its not the neighbors well we try and catch it and see if it has tags if not we call the cops to pick it up .Just cause you have guns doesn't mean you can shoot everything on your land, Most dogs are not vicious but if the dog was biting us or the horses that changes things...
