Neighbors yorkie would try to attack my shepherd while we are out walking. Neighbor never really trained the dog either.Oh, I would have loved seeing that! I would think that most dogs are trainable...you just need to get their attention first.
I found out fast, if I tapped the dog with my foot while keeping my shepherd from ending the issue permanently, she would high tail it back to the house. I would tell the dog no each time she came after us.
Out walking the shepherd one evening and the yorkie came running at us. Held the shepherds head up, and swiped my left foot to clear the yorkie out from under her and missed. Took a step forward and swiped with my right foot. I ended up surprising the yorkie and she jumped just as swiped.
I ended up sending her sailing into the ditch which had about 6" of ice cold water.
A few days later that yorkie came after us again. Before she made it out of the yard I said "No mam" like I usually did. That dog put on the brakes, came to a halt and high tailed it back to the house.
If I had known that's all it would take was an ice cold bath, I would have knocked her in the ditch years ago.
