My god we seem to live in a world where no one cares that there are no movies worth watching beig made any more. But then, we don't seem to care about a lot of stuff that "should" matter. So lack of any good movies is the least of it, I guess.

Maybe for you. ;)

The last movie we saw in a theater was Knives Out. I enjoyed it.

Was looking forward to the latest James Bond movie. Release got delayed due to that thing whose name shall not be mentioned.

Hard to believe, but the Lego Movie is 6 years old already. I laughed hard! Lego Batman was hilarious as well.

Highwaymen last year with Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson was very good as well.

2007 No Country for Old Men

Seems to me that there may be a few of the newer movies worth watching, but for the most part the genre of today's movies...and comedy also...has somehow left me behind. I can't think of the last Really great movie...in the class of GWTW... I have seen; it certainly hasn't been in the last few years. "Toy Story" comes as close as any. The last movie I recall going to in a theater was "Book Club". The ladies may have liked it, but to me it was so-so; certainly not as entertaining as the Sunday funnies and a bottle of Jackie D.

I'm drawing a blank now to name any, but I've seen good recent films. And also, don't forget for every classic of past, they made a ton of crappy films of the era as well. It's just that nobody remembers those.

Yeah, when I'm surfing the guide, some decisions are easy. When I see Bruce Willis, Will Smith, and Adam Sandler, I just cruise on by.

I do like Meryl Streep; I've seen a couple lately that I liked; "Doubt" where she plays a nun, and another..."The River Wild"...where they are on a rafting trip and harassed by hoodlums. I have to disagree with Trump when he said that "She isn't even a good actress" or something similar. She is not only good in my opinion, she is superb. He politics are another thing.

I thought the new 'Midway' movie was good...they at least got the history right...

Also liked:

'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri'

' Hidden Figures'

'The Ballad of Buster Scruggs'

'Deepwater Horizon'

Also thought that 'Skyfall' was the best 007 movie of them all...

Kind of a side rant, but I really wish Leftflicks would have a feature telling you you saw that movie already.

You can look in your viewing activity and see everything you've ever watched on Netflix. But yes, it would be nice if there was a little mark or icon on the movie to indicate you've watched it already.

I have not seen a movie of any age, new or old in over 5 years. I don't remember then last time I was in a theater, probably the 80s sometime. I didn't have any Premium channels when I had satellite TV, so I never saw 'new' movies until they were a couple of years old.

But when I watched them, I tended to gravitate to the really silly, stupid and idiotic flicks like 'Earth Girls Are Easy' and 'Transylvania 6-5000' (both of which feature Geena Davis by the way). Or goofy stuff like '1941', 'Stripes', 'Death Becomes Her' and 'Young Frankenstein'. I was just never into the serious dramas like 'Bridges from somewhere to boredom'.

Anthony Hopkins was the nutcase in Silence of the Lambs. Now put him on an old Indian motorcycle. The World's Fastest Indian is based on a true story about a motorcycle racers dream to run his bike on the salt flats. He encounters every problem and misadventure imaginable in his quest. When he finally gets his chance he sets a new record on the fist try. The press is in panic mode trying to find information/background stories to use in reporting the news. One of the best feel good movies I've seen.

One of the best crime drama movies is 'Fracture' with Hopkins and Ryan Gosling...it is a superb mystery...!
