LS MT 225S

   / LS MT 225S #21
The neighbors new MT225-S arrived. All I have to say is it is absolutely awesome! They took some of the best features of the larger tractors and added them to an improved larger sub compact. Best of both worlds! It has the quietest HST that I have heard... in this case not heard... no whine at all!

Tilt wheel is infinite positions, just push on a little floor lever. It has a position control 3pt control, a nice improvement over the 125. The seat is reclining and has adjustable armrests controlled by turning a wheel, also has some better spring suspension. The operator station is well thought out and controls easily reached. The SSQA is full size, there is a bucket level indicator rod. The 3 range transmission is a major improvement.

I took a bunch of pictures next to my 3025, the hoods are almost the same height. The 25-S is definitely a bit narrower. The turning radius is almost as tight as the 125.

We will give some real world tryouts tomorrow. All in all, I am impressed. LS hit it out of the park with this one!

Thanks for the pictures. This pandemic may have saved me from buying the wrong LS. I was looking at an MT125 back in March and I put my purchase on hold until I saw how my finances would survive.

Hi Guys,

Dealer got the 25S in along with the mid mount mowers. Overall I really like the tractor. Excellent fit and finish. A couple things I am not crazy about is the loader control but I didn't care for that design on the Kubota B2601 either just prefer the lever inside the fender with cable controls like the 2032R Deere. The 3 point lift arms could be a little more stout and they used a thinner steel on the vertical mounts for the loader mast than the XJ and sub compact. Nevertheless a real sweet machine. Notice the difference in tread depth on the Tiron R4's on this machine compared to Titan/Carlisle. I would say there is at least 33% less rubber on these tires so wondering if this was intentional to give the machine less impact with the mid mount mower?

I registered just to follow updates on the MT225S, appreciate everyone's insight so far. Almost pulled the trigger on a 1025R last weekend and am going to check out an MT125 tomorrow. I caught wind of the 225S and it has me very intrigued, but the nearest LS dealer is an hour away and he's not a high volume dealer to boot. Next closest is about an hour and a half away so I'm pretty reliant on 2nd and 3rd hand feedback from this place. I'll be lurking, but I appreciate the insight so far.

Some real world info... today , we took off the loader. Real simple and easy, done in maybe 3 minutes. The built in loader support legs were easier to deploy than the ones on the MT125.

Then hooked up the 72 in finish mower on the 3 point, no issues. Actually it was easier than my XG3025 because you can put the 225-S PTO in neutral and turn the PTO shaft to line up the shaft. Made it much easier for sure.

The tractor did not even feel like it had a finish mower on the back! 540 PTO speed occurs at 2600 rpm, the engine was very smooth and surprisingly seemed quieter than my XG and the 125. Plenty of power.

We cut about an acre, it was actually fun on this tractor. Very maneuverable, tight turning radius. Overall, I think my neighbor made a very good choice!
