Buying from an out of state dealer

/ Buying from an out of state dealer #11
I thinking about getting a new Kubota. I have a large dealer near me who is good. However, a friend said he bought one out of state for several thousand dollars less. What are the downsides if any buying from an OOS dealer? Thanks!

How far away is out of state ?
Shipping could be quite a lot, unless you have truck and trailer to get it.
I bought a specially outfitted NH backhoe from 3000 miles away. It was 5000+ cheaper than anything within 1000 miles and it was from the California desert, so it looked like new, even though a few years old.
One of the best deals I ever made.

When I was looking (L48TLB) last year, I limited my consideration to a 500 mile radius, because I absolutely did not want to pull my trailer any further in a day (I am old!).
After 9 months of looking on line......found it on CL 350 miles away.
Perfect location too!
8 miles from where my old college roommate lives, on Deer Isle Maine.
Had a delightful dinner/evening with him and his wife, (fiddleheads with dinner), stayed overnight with them, and drove home the next day.
Could not have been better!
700 miles round trip. Gas and tolls...under $225.

Yes, I remember reading same story in another thread.
That L48 is a real keeper.
When you get tired of it, gimme a holler. I just sold my full size New Holland and I already need it back. I could make due with a much smaller machine now, so a compact TLB would be great

When "I get tired of it", will be when a cousin of it, has dug me a very personal hole.
I doubt that either of my sons will keep it though, so at my age, you just might get your wish.
Planning to buy a grapple for it next month.
Why not......I am not QUITE 80 yet?

Can you not have a cival discussion with your local dealership about the price discrepency?

I bought a tractor 100 miles out of state. BUT, the OOS dealer was part of the same company as local dealer. I have not had any problem getting service or response from the local dealer. OP may want to contact (if any ) OOS related dealers to the local dealer. You don't have to tell the sales rep, you 've already gotten a price. Everybody is looking out for #1 If the local isn't willing to work with you, someone else will.

Pictures?..... Actually, completely redone..... it looks like new!
I have pics..., but am absolutely incompetent when it comes to loading computer picture chit.
It has an ...attempt ....at aux hydraulics, that a guy did for me in Canada.
Aux. does not work the way it should.
I have to activate loader hyd. and aux simultaneously, to get aux. action.
Not plumbed properly, but I don't know how to remedy it.

My L48TLB has 3rd function, with diverter, and 3 rear remotes, but I never plan to use the 3pt. on that, or take the hoe off.
The little 1920 is just the right size for my 3pt. implements.
