Rotary Cutter Flex Wing Mower

I have a Kubota M5-111 and also a Kubota M6800. Currently the M5 runs a Rhino Turbo 120 cutter and the M6800 runs a Rhino TW96 Cutter. I am thinking about selling the Rhino TW96 and letting the M6800 run the Turbo 120 while I get a new one for the M5.

I have looked at Rhino, Woods, Landpride, and Bushhog. I would like to have a medium/heavy duty 12' cutter but can not seem to find one, so I have been looking at 15'. My local dealer quoted me a Bush Hog 2815 for $19,100.00 today. He said the Bush Hog 2215 would not be strong enough and considers it a light duty mower. Can anyone comment on whether this is true or not?


Any opinions for a 12' or 15'.

My biggest regret with my Alamo was Castor Wheel size. BIG wheels always better (On anything!) . The dinky little wheels would go into a gopher hole and bend the castor spindles that had been lowered all the way to raise the mower for field work. I guess, the Bushhog had castor wheels twice the size of mine.

3150 or 4150? I live in East Texas mowing y誕ll weeds and uneven ground due to hog rooting. Probably mow around 200 acres per year,

It's a turbo96. Tractor is a Massey Ferguson 4707

I purchased a Bush Hog 2815 about 3 yrs ago. It is much heavier built than a Bush Hog 2215 or 1815. I believe your M5-111 will handle a 2815 provided you have at least a 1000# on the front of it and no steep ground. I also recommend airplane tires in lieu of laminated tires.

I went with aircraft tires on my CX-15s and really like them, too. I Road mine often to customer properties and they were a no brainer for me.

I went and looked at the 5 Mowers today.
Bush Hog 2215: $15,800
Bush Hog 2815: $17,900
Rhino 4150: 18,900
Landpride 3712: $14,400
Modern Viper 12: $12,100.00


The are all good looking mowers. The 2215 was not quite as light built as I thought they might be and definitely interested in that one. But as stated earlier, a 12' may work better for me since I have to mow around trees and etc. A few questions I have.


1.) Can you mow with a flex wing with the wings up? Or 1 wing up if the hydraulics allow? If I get a 15', there will be some place I need to mow a more narrow area.

2.) The Modern Viper 12' seems to be a fairly built mower. I do not personally like the galvanized color, but that is just me. Does anyone have any complaints or experiences with the Modern?

3.) The Landpride 3712 seems to be the heaviest built 12' but still a little light for 100 HP tractor. Any thoughts on this? I am trying to purchase one to last a long time.

4.) Any other heavy 12'mowers that I need to be looking at?
