Simple: I put in the seat time ...
I didn't have an issue until a few years ago ... when tractor had been operated (hard) in the winter in very muddy conditions, didn't cleaned off until spring.
I think that was also the same year I also had one of the rear axle seals start to pop out of the axle housing.
Luckily, I had to get off the tractor to adjust a chain and happened to see the hydraulic fluid running out ... and managed to get it back to house before it dumped all the fluid.
BTW - when I said "well over 1000 hours", it could have been as much 1700 or 1800 ... so over 1000 was a very safe guess ...

I had about 800 hr 3-4 years ago when my outer knuckles started leaking 1200 now, I dont mind wet but small puddles on floor bothers me so I figured if the bearings aren't gone and it's just seals its worth a try and did the trick for me to.
