I find with any thread on any forum I follow (not just TBN) after about 2 pages, everything of value has been said and I no longer follow it. So, my suggestion is allow users to hide threads they don't want coming up time and time again to have to ignore or scroll by. Each members profile could have a list of their hidden threads and allow the member to go back and unhide if desired.

Yes, I know, this thread is at 11 pages and I should be ignoring it based on my own standard. But, since it was locked and then unlocked, I took another look. It's taken me a while to decide to provide input on this one. There is aways exceptions!:drink:

^^ To an extent, the reverse of that is available here. Subscribe to a thread for it to appear on your My Home page. Unsubscribe if you no longer want it there. Scroll the forums, New Posts or Today's posts to see all threads and select which ones to subscribe to.

I've got a 10 warning system in mind. But this is basically the idea.
 Ten? I suppose there are enough here on TBN that need more lives than a cat!

Some of the thread creep can be fun, IMO. I will sometimes read a new thread, decide I'm not interested enough to continue following it, and then find out later it has gone off in another direction.

I thought that happened once with a thread about people sick of a Joe Namath commercial. A long time later, the thread was still active, so I decided to see where the discussion had gone. They were *still* talking about the Joe Namath commercial! I guess some people really hated it.

All of this talk about suspension - etc, etc. That will work until the suspended person re-joins with an alternate email. Oosik is only one of four possible emails I could use. For me - it's just as easy to NOT subscribe to a thread that does not interest me.

As we keep pointing out though; the problem is with threads which we do like, that keep getting closed because of a select few members.

I offered to take the fodder off to a place I nicknamed The Outhouse, but haven't heard back.

I doubt that posters would take you up on that. We already have TNT, where people are encouraged to come talk about politics. It is somehow more enjoyable for some to continue to break the rules on TBN.

I don't understand it, but there you go. 🤪

Post ratings?

Not sure about "reporting" posters? Is that done to the mods via PM? And what is the determining factor(s) for removal or banishment?

I am trying to understand what you have that is available to work with.
On the website, in the bottom left corner of each post is a triangle which (if you click on it) takes you to a place to put in a message and report that post to the moderators.
if you use the app, you highlight the post, click on the menu and then click report.
that lets the moderators know that there's a problem with that post and they can review it and see what needs to happen with it.
As for the suggestions of the moderators editing a post, to edit a post would take 30 seconds to a minute per post, when a post has been quoted 15 times that would take an excessive amount of time versus a couple seconds to select each post as you go down and then get rid of them.
