Yep. Worst that can happen is you have to call an “ expert “. Or you fall off your roof and break your collarbones
This is true, sad to say. I am surprised that people have become so helpless and dependent on others...for everything.

I could not get a chimney guy to fix this mess one guy wanted 3,800 for a band aid fix ..........View attachment 662951View attachment 662952View attachment 662953
Or scaffolding and break your dominant wrist............ still worth the savings!Yep. Worst that can happen is you have to call an “ expert “. Or you fall off your roof and break your collarbones
Pocket change for you
I would have quoted ya $1500....even after I saw you had thoroughbreds running around in your paddocks.
....Better get after them fascia boards..... Lookin pretty shabby......Maybe a local artist from that artsy community you live in will do it.![]()
I'm getting a new roof, doors , windows ,fascia boards, siding fixed and the house painted in August.......
Recently got some quotes for 350 linear feet of retaining wall... materials probably $5k. Equipment rental and dump fees about $3k. Job cost $40k. Four guys, five days they said... do the math, that's $160 per hour per guy... that's way more than I make so the decision is easy.
Usually I find that I can do a job for about 20% of whatever quote I get, and sometimes that includes buying some tools. With the retaining wall I could buy a mini excavator and still save money.
Me too... the hospital stay doesn't even include all of the supplies, etc. like a hotel stay! :confused3:
Good price.
American labor?
We have a guy named Pedro doing work for some homes in our neighborhood. Hes an expert at everything  from tree work to concrete. Hes a foreign national and he works for 1/2 the cost of American owned businesses because he has little to no overhead. He痴 a very hard worker. Has no problem working on Sundays, July 4th, after dark, whenever we are all hoping for a little peace and quiet-maybe a graduation party. I知 wondering when he will be buying a snowplow for his truck and taking my snow plowing customer list from me.
The most disappointing thing is my wealthy neighbors see no problem in hiring him
Not saying thats what your quote was from or making any accusation whatsoever. Just curious because I couldnt match that bid.
I was wondering how the guys working for little or nothing are getting away with that. Maybe I'm wrong, but if I put a new roof on or build an addition, I want it documented so that when the time comes to sell it will enhance the value of my property. I thought about putting in my septic myself without a permit/inspection as per my site plan, but didn't because I don't expect to live here forever and want to be able to sell as a house, not a shed. This is why it is so important to become self sufficient. Learn how to "Do" for yourself. If you can read and follow directions you can do almost anything. Give it a try.
PS: I do understand that in some areas that Codes and Compliance will not allow you to do anything for yourself. MOVE!
