John Deere 3032
First post here,

Like the title says I am trying to compare the MF 1760 vs the Kubota L6060. I live on about 4 acres, where I mow fields, have a garden, lug firewood around. Also, I have a 5+ acre blackberry field that I need to mow, spray, fumigate (why I need a cab). I am really looking for a dual purpose tractor. Do not want to put up the money for a vineyard tractor. I currently have a JD 3032 but really need the cab and the HP but, I want to keep the footprint of a new tractor just as tight.

I am planning on getting skinny tires and want a high HP tractor that can get through my narrow rows. Like to run a hydraulic pump, have grapple on the front for removing dead canes each year.

My local MF dealer is a questionable person, he sells Mahindra too. The Kubota dealer is a nice guy. JD has a huge presence here but, there are way too many row crop farmers around with big machines for me to get anything close to good service.

The MF checks all of the boxes but, is it robust? I am not a 100 hr a year type person. More like 500/ yr. I love the no Def/ no DPF.

Does the Kubota even have a air ride seat?

Also Ok with buying something with a few years on it.

Any advice/ experience would be helpful.

Thanks,

Ricker

I am familiar with both tractors. Kubota L6060 all the way. You wont regret the purchase.

Thanks, I meant to say 40 not 4. 60 hp tractor for 4 acres might be overkill.

I am not familiar with the MF machines, but I do know the Kubota 60 series tractors are awesome. A factory air ride seat is available, but I believe you lose the unattended PTO operation (hacks available). I have L4060 on 6 acres... But it's not quite as absurd as it sounds. I plow about 15 or so rural driveways in the winter, and needed the weight.
Dealer is important, IMHO. Happy shopping.

I have owned both kubota and Massey Ferguson. The older kubota were great. The newer ones, not so much. Massey has really upped their game. I currently own a MF 4707 and it's a beast. Quality, fit and finish, and design are fantastic. The smaller 1760 is also a winner. With no DPF, it's the clear choice here to me. Cant speak for the dealer, but the Massey ferguson is the better tractor

I have a 1750M and really like it. Also looked at Kubota, and an equivalent Grand L would have cost $12k more. Not even close to worth it. No complaints with my MF. And I hate the treadle pedal on the Kubotas.

Thanks for the repsonses. Just called a dealer somewhat close to me (that shows to have the model I want) and I was told the 1760m was discontinued and there would be a new model. I asked if the new model had def/dpf and they couldn't answer that. Anyone know anything? Right when I had just made up my mind... Just wondering why they would discontinue what seems to be a popular tractor and, do I want to buy a model that was discontinued after 3 production years?

I just went through the buying process and narrowed down to the MF 1742 and the Kubota L4060... Both were very impressive tractors to me and I would have been happy to have either one. In terms of features they both offer basically the same thing, with the Kubota maybe getting a slight edge due to HST+. Ultimately it came down to I found a good deal on a nice 2019 MF 1742 already equipped with third function and grapple so that's the direction I went and I haven't regretted it a second. Wonderful tractor. I'm sure I would be equally happy with the Grand L Kubota though.

I'm not sure if this is a normal question to ask here but, what is a deal price wise on that 1742? I am probably going to look for used with low hours if I can.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I bought a 2019 HST model, 150 hours, excellent condition cosmetically, with third function and grapple delivered to my house for $23,000. Also came with the factory bucket and a quick hitch. Purchased from an individual so no sales tax either.

Here's my buying thread if you are interested. I'll warn ya, it's a little long and I'm all over the map before settling on the one I bought, but if you want to check it out here it is. A lot of talk about the Kubota in there.
