What have you done with/to your GC Series 2300, 2400, 1700 Tractor TODAY

Good day to clear my mind and dig this old trench and put in 12" culvert. This at the bottom of the lawn and the run off was leaving rocks and unmowable so this was my fix. The only weight I'll ever have in it is a mower or my scut so I wasn't worried about doing the base as if it was a driveway culvert.
12" was a bit overkill for 98% of the storms but I wanted to be sure it'd handle the "gully washers"

The old mercury stick (thermometer ) hit the triple digits today so I decided to stay indoors.... Supposed to go higher the next few days so tractor will probably stay in shed unless I do some early morning work....

Man... Had a great day on brush hog rebuild progress! Can't wait to slap this thing back on the GC and cleanup some roadsides that get neglected around here and create accidents. Speaking of the GC1710...it does a great job of doubling as a break bench lol. I used the FEL as a clamp point to bend the flange for the side panels.

Couple of grading projects, 2 different yards, same family. Mostly tiller and FEL work.

The second yard I had to establish a shallow swale.

Yes. I will have reused the gearbox (which I'm rebuilding with new seals and bearings), drive shaft, tail wheel, and the front and rear metal bands of the original brush hog. I completely refabricated the sides, top, hitch points (making it QH compatible) frame and the wheel bracket.

Edit: I've modified the design quite a bit because of the way the original failed

Thanks Ken, I usually shut the business down for the winter, the end of October, then I will get on my trail building at home.

So I've completely rebuilt the gearbox with cups, bearings and seals. Given that the bottom seal was toast and the bearing wobbled out and the sleeve worn out they had the gearbox full of heavy grease which had to be scraped and scrubbed and cleaned out. I also had to improvise fixing the bottom cup and was able to add a stainless steel sleeve and drive the cup down into it. I shouldn't be surprised a 60+ year old gearbox is that worn out

And now the reason I'm on a GC thread telling you about this. I was also able to test fit the brush hog to the GC. She lifted it without a second thought...of course. LOL. I swear I heard the tractor ask me to hurry up and finish this thing already so we could go thrash some grass but that might have been my imagination.

I hope to get to paint stage later this week after building the front/back supports and tail wheel swing arm/bracket.
