Would you buy an electric truck?

Assuming it lasts that long. How many people keep a truck for 30 years? Even in places where rust/corrosion isn't a problem, if you use it to actually haul things it's gonna be pretty well beat way before then.
Given the price of these things, a long loan is a given.

That's the debatable genius behind the Cybertruck: 1. tough stainless steel of weldable thickness, 2. don't target the hard working truck market.

If electric pickups aren't built to last as long as the drivetrain, then I'm not sure they'll be successful. It's really easy for them to end up too expensive to own if you aren't making money with them, but working range is probably going to be a challenge for a work truck.

I see no advantages to an electric truck. I would be more interested in an electric tractor where the battery weight is an advantage. I rarely use my tractor more than zix hours at a time so keeping it charged and ready would not be issue. But it would need to be cost competitive.

Not sure if any are in the USA yet. I think a small electric tractor would be handy. I think the pickups with heavy amperage 120v/240v outlets would be handy for construction and pulling RV's.

Below is some general info on EV batteries.

Very good points.

Electric all boils down to use case. In harsh weather conditions batteries are not as reliable as a combustion engine. I am not at all interested in sitting in an electric vehicle at 20 below zero for 6 hours in traffic on the highway in a blizzard in the CO mountains.

I just installed a 240 v, 32 a power station for one of my generator customers new leaf vehicle. The charger that came with the car required 28 hours to recharge car. I believe the new one required 6 hours if battery fully dead. I was wondering what the tesla power stations i see in town require to fully charge a vehicle. Any one here know. These people asked me.... i have no idea.

I think 40 amp is max on Tesla but 32 may be more common. On our 2016 onboard Leaf charger can charge a rate 6.6 amps and the computer on my 240 cord to the onboard reports drawing 26 amp until it tapers near the end. I went with the 40 amp option since that garage is on a 40 amp break thinking of the future.

MUSTART Level 2 Portable EV Charger (240 Volt, 25ft Cable, 40 Amp), Electric Vehicle Charger Plug-in EV Charging Station with NEMA 14-50P

I also have a Tesla tap so I can use Destination charges at hotels if that is the only option since they are 240 volt source. With this set up I have only charged at home but the 120 volt cable takes forever as you know. I have used the Ford dealership and my power company has one station that they use to charge some F-150's.

I know their superchargers are three phase, I think I saw something about a hundred amps but the person may have been blowing smoke, that's a lot of juice.

i just did a search, and an article i read states the supercharged stations can charge 80% in 40 minutes, and 90% in 75 minutes. They are huge power hog 150kw stations. Seems fast, but personally id be bored stiff waiting 75 minutes to charge, plus the time needed to wait for open port. I wonder how much carbon is pumped out into atmosphere providing that 150 kw of power. I really get driven nuts over this stuff. People want to get rid of hydroelectric to save salmon, they are closing down nuclear reactors like Diablo Canyon, they dont want natural gas power generators nor coal. Whats left. I hope they dont think wind and solar will power the entire US economy.

I agree. Plain and simple electric/battery NEEDS to be better than current technologies. If I cant get all of the benefits of a combustion engine in a new technology, why would I switch?

Who would pay more for something that makes it harder for you to live?
