Would you buy an electric truck?

All EVs are nothing more than a wealth re-distribution scam.
You can justify anything you want with enough money redistributed from your pocket in to someone else’s.
Then the recipient can pay some other “scientist mathematician” to explain it all in terms that will ease your anxiety over your “expenditure”. So you can sleep better at night.

You can apply the same logic to the climate change debacle.
We’ve raised a culture of timid little rabbits that have forgotten how apply logic to most assertions raised by any opposing position.

I do not think the sun is going to stop shining? Power generation is moving to the point of need reducing loads for the current aging grid. Keep in mind Elon Musk is thinking of places like the Moon and Mars and how to power habitats there. Some think he is competing with Detroit building cars which is not the case per him. He just wants to show the world how to reduce the use of non-renewal energies by transportation industry.

Battery powered tractors may stay parked for months at a time earning no money but they can earn money 365 days out of the year if they become part of the power grid.

Not on this side of the continent; we keep blasting in new lines and putting up windmills to bring "green" power to Massachusetts. Now there is a massive project scheduled to bring power from Quebec through Maine for the same... a project which New Hampshire has already turned down. What I can't figure out, when a dam is on a Maine River it's evil; when it comes from Canada it's green.

the reason they cant kerp the grid going is due to the decommissioning of nuclear plants and natural gas power plants. Add that to their wanting to decommission hydroelectric dams.... there left with wind and solar. Not working too good for them

Ya can't just wish electrons into motion ?

Quite true.... depleting the source generation to that extent is not w/o consequence.

But, at a micro level, it becomes mind-boggling when the simple (and much-needed) act of brushing-clear ONE local line becomes a Kafkaesque nightmare. When the overburden of paperwork/permits/inspection exceeds one task........ maybe Luddite's didn't disappear, they just became govt employees.....

But... I should be more reasonable..... if you mess up the macro-level generation capacity, expecting one low-level day-to-day operational task to be taken care of expediently is dreaming.....

Rgds, D.

Aha, another person where logic has interrupted the media manure being spread. It’s nothing more than wealth redistribution.
Nothing more. Nothing less

Here's the way I figure it.
What's the purpose of a truck?
To haul and/or tow things.
About a year ago I bought this '93 F150 4x4 for $2,000. I paid $220 for 4 new tires. 300 cu in 6, 4 speed. AC works. Gas about 15mpg.
It gets washed when it rains, gets scratched by brush going through woods, etc. It wouldn't impress anyone but it hauls and tows things.
A few days after I bought it my neighbor bought a brand new F150, 4x4 crew cab. The electric tailgate he can open with his cell phone app. I didn't ask, but I'm guessing $50-$60K. Gas about 23mpg.
It hauls and tows things...as long as nothing scratches it.
I've pulled trees out of the woods and snapped lots of tow straps. New trucks normally are never driven on grass.
Bottom line is if you take paper and pencil, line drawn down middle, then write down costs first, factoring in what interest that money would make over time, depreciation, finance charges (If any), fuel+ maintenance, etc. Then if electric cost of the home charge system, batteries.
I've always been curious if all roads were tunnels so no one could see what you drove...what would people drive?
To make any decision you have to factor in all aspects, without factoring in what others think or ego. It should be your best fit , the most practical.

Hey, your old Ford, still looks pretty good. Gotta admit you are definitely into it "right".

Thanks. I forgot to mention I haul hay & straw bales, brush and horse poop in it all the time, something you wouldn't want to do in an electric or new expensive truck.

What do you base the scam remark on? Do you agree the low income are in need of assistance?

Low-income California households can get free blackout-busting battery backup systems

Yes, we should adopt socialism just like Venezuela. People who actually work and pay taxes should pay for those who don't.
For many years I made home service calls to section eight housing and the projects, having tools and equipment stolen, seeing those free houses shredded.
Yes, the working should have to pay for their systems while the poor should get theirs for free.

No one can that amount. That's is why bankruptcy was invented thousands of years ago so there no need of worry about it. The debt is a mute point just like it was for GM in 2008.
