Don'tcha' wish they'd just STOP 'Improving' things?

I don't even mess around with them anymore. I use a "shaker" siphon hose to fill my fuel tank; put the can in the tractor bucket, raise it above the filler nozzle, and let gravity do it's job. For my saw I keep a gallon can about half full, and take the stupid nozzle off. I can usually do it without spilling much.

I just replaced mine with spouts similar to these. Technically, they can only be sold in my state for "water cans" (nudge nudge wink wink), but they fit cas cans just fine.

Realized yesterday ist has folding mirrors (stupid considering they are quite small) and a heated steering wheel. Ridiculous! But I couldn't figure out how to operate the HVAC system! So I just gave up, rather than hitting a tree or something! Give me a fan speed knob and a heat level knob!

Unfortunately, we old geezers who like it simple are apparently in the minority, and not who the carmakers are marketing to. Younger people love the techie stuff.

With heated seat of course!!!
I remember the cold winter nights spent at my grandparents old farm house. Some nights when it was really cold out, you could see your breath upstairs. A heated seat would have been really nice

Would you'all like some cheese with your whine? Did you keep your encyclopedia Brittanica or World Book... with a yearly volume for updates? It is still pretty much your choice as to what tech you want to embrace. It is just getting a little harder not to... because the upside outweighs the 'stick in the mud' approach.

I've been in the software business for 35 years. As we tell people - "I just said it was an upgrade, I didn't say it was better."

Had a professor back in the 70s tell us all, these SW guys are gonna rule the world. He was right.

My folks big 200 year old farmhouse is still that way. They are in their 70s now so they leave the house in the winter and go south to Arizona....been doing that for 4 years now. Hoping the lock down doesn't affect their travels this time.

Heated seat? My Grandparent's had a privy; it was a good 50 yards from the front gate, and a long trip on a cold Winter's night. You could consider yourself lucky if there were any corn cobs left. And then there's this, for you "new and improved" gas cans:

As you know I am pretty much a "lets keep up with the latest tech" kind of guy. I love modern techie things. and I have no trouble figuring out how to adjust the HVAC controls in my auto's :)

Both vehicles now have the (Auto) button and dual climate control. Set the temp and forget about it. Granted I will switch the zones depending on if I need the defrost. But not having to adjust temperature and fan speed is really nice.

I have never cared much for the automatic air conditioning and I am constantly overriding it. Tiny little buttons that take a fingernail to push. I like the old knobs for fan, temp, and recirculating, radio volume too. I do not need to take my eyes of the road so much to hunt. Some bells and whistles are nice, just look at my tractor choice.
