No offense to anyone but I have always judged the general intelligence of the public by what is popular on television...and I'm sorry to say it just keeps getting worse and worse...!

So how far back do you have to go to find "intelligent" tv? "Gilligan's Island", "My Favorite Martian" and most 60s westerns were pretty lightweight too.

I was mostly referring to the idiotic (so called) reality shows that are almost entirely scripted yet still somehow seem to fool the masses that watch them into believing they are "real"...too funny...!

As for going back...there were some very good shows in the past...Dramas like 'Perry Mason', adventure show like 'Sea Hunt' for instance...Comedy's like Jack Benny, Dean Martin Show, later Bob Newhart etc., etc...

But seriously. I have to wonder why politicians and world leaders would or should have much respect for the masses. Mostly just mindless consumers and addicted to pop culture, fashion, reality TV and the like.

Add in shows like "The Twilight Zone", "The Outer Limits", "The Defenders" (E.G. Marshal) and many high quality anthology shows as well as real documentaries (rather then the stupid "reality" TV you referred to). Many of these shows made one think...not be brainless...

One of my favorites is 'Alfred Hitchcock Presents'...Alfred's sense of humor and wit (in his opening monologues) was outstanding....his disdain for commercials was hilarious...
