Good Morning. It’s 33 and a little foggy this morning. It’s supposed to gain about 20 degrees by mid day and clear up.

Sounds like I should mount the snow blade on the tractor by Wednesday. The plan is to have it mounted and backed into the shop, so I can just open the door and go.

Yesterday was spent mostly running errands, I did go over to my neighbor’s tree farm and sort out why their tree drill was tripping the GFI. Turned out it was a bad motor, so I replaced it.

Today has me mounting our new birdhouse (Thank you Drew), and changing the engine on the Lazer Z. The old engine has a ring issue in one cylinder and burns a lot of oil. It got me through the season, so it’s no fire drill to get it swapped. Strangely enough, as popular as those mowers are, I waited over a month for the Kohler engine to come in.

Drew, I’m pleased to hear that you liked the pork. Not sure what will go in the smoker next, but it’s a safe bet there will be more than we will eat, so stay tuned......

Pop, that bbq sure looks good, I make Carolina style pork and chicken, even did turkey once. I do a brisket now and then, but I have hard time doing anything but a pig butt.

39 heading to mid 60's today. Front Porch on the to-do list. Two toilets seem to have an issue with their cut off valves. Sigh...that will require a parts run today.

toppop, prayers your way, and positive vibes. I recall those car pics from a while back. A sweet ride. I need to manage my time better, the fun stuff is taking a back seat these past few years. Sorry to hear of the equipment loss. I had stuff disappearing from the farm while I was working on it and not living here. It sucks. Someone mentioned CG and FB for looking.

mostly, restomod, an old car with new modern mechanics and electrics. Keep the body style, modernize everything else.

wngsprd, send pic in PM of board, measurements too. I have a few different t&g here. I searched far and wide, found a place in Richmond that carried them. They have a pretty good assortment of restore material. Just pricey.

Just looked at the 10 day forecast for York PA (I lived a few miles outside of York before moving to Vermont). 12-13 inches predicted there. When I lived in PA, we'd get a pretty good nor'easter every 3-4 years. That's why I bought my first Deere back in 2000

Furnace guy came out a fixed flame sensor on furnace.

I got good at replacing the flame sensor and nozzle on my old oil burner. About the only 2 things that can go wrong.
I started doing my own repairs after discovering the “expert repairman” used whatever wrong nozzle he happened to have, which worked for a short time, but fouled up quick being the wrong spray pattern.

I have been doing my own oil burner repair and maintenance for a long time.
I installed the new boiler in this house over 25 years ago and no one but myself has touched it in that time.
I do the maintenance on other family members as well, nozzles, ignitors and filters in 4 units this fall.
One system was a royal pain, replace one component and a day or three later and something else would fail.
It was an old mobile home unit, the last failure was the motor. Had to pull the burner out for that,
so at that point anything that hadn't been changed was changed, new motor, pump, couplings, and the burned end cap was starting to crack,
the only things not replace were the housing and fan and tubes and nozzle holder.
I keep almost everything needed to repair a Beckett burner on the shelve in my basement.
After going thru that one unit and considering the age of mine I even ordered a new motor to fit it.
I'm starting to watch Craigs list for a complete spare unit for the right price ( under $100 and looking like new),
many people are changing out from oil to natural gas as it becomes available to them, many will pull the oil burner out and keep the existing unit with a new gas burner.

but for a little whine...brain mri this morning was miserable, my neck was not straight, pinched nerves in neck, shoulder
went numb and ached like crazy, then pains shooting down arm. How does one say pinched nerve?
And of course you can't move even a tiny bit or they'll have to do it over again.
So you're waiting and wondering if the little voice that says this next scan will take four minutes must have been mistaken because
it feels like you've waited, in pain, for more than ten...
You just have to suck it up and grit your teeth.

Fifteen seconds after I got up from table it mostly
all went away. Next time I have to remember to take my soft collar.
Which I need to wear now. Works well in the winter in the cold at least...

when I got home I started the heater in the garage and am heading out to make some sawdust later.
I took some cedar woodworking scraps with me yesterday
to my friend with the fire pit and they made nice kindling.

Other than mesquite, I know apple and cherry trees have a very pleasant odor burning.
Not sure what else you can burn that smells nice. Sugar Maple?
Some is so resinous it's dangerous as it blows sparks everywhere.

what's your favorite wood to smell burning?

Good morning to all! Low of 29, only up to 37 today, another batch of snow this afternoon and overnight.... on the news they literally forecast a guess --- "trace to 2+ in.".... If it is like the last system, that will be OK... snow in the morning, rain in the afternoon, gone by next day....

Randy, sorry to hear of a possible problem, and about the equipment theft.... it really makes one feel violated for sure! I hope they don't come back for any more shopping....

Wng, your material stockpile sounds like mine... everything usually comes up being an inch or two short of what is needed, especially frustrating after digging through a large stack.

RS, you are making us look bad.... what are you going to do when you get done with the projects ?

Yesterday was a good shop day, I got all the pieces/parts all sanded x2--(100g, then 150g).... today will be final sand with 220 grit, possibly starting the assembly process. That's the goal anyway....
