I worked for guy 40 years ago that made a pot hole fix machine, it was a take off of a highway sand spreader he use to build that goes and fits behind any dump truck. I cant find a picture anywhere of the Bryant sand/salt spreader, the last one was made back in 81-ish then they started to rebuild antique wood stoves.
The sander was like a big hopper behind dump truck, could be easily put on and taken off any time, the pot hole version just had a boom on the hopper behind dump truck with a 3' wide heavy roller on end of knuckle boom with 8'-ish reach, operator sat on ditch side of hopper to operate the hydraulic boom, cold patch asphalt fell into hopper from the dump body, augger in hopper funneled patch to center then fall into conveyor in boom and out to the end of roller, patch goes into pot hole and roller would pack it down. Even thouh I was only in my 20s I thought it was a pretty good machine like I'd 10 times rather run that then wheel barrel and shovel.......
