If done wrong, YIKES! You get to live with it for 40 years.

Like that eastbound stretch on US 20 between the Capitol Avenue and IN 19 exits?

HAHAHHAA!!!

YES!!! And that's AFTER they ground it down.

For those of you that don't know what we're talking about, there's a stretch of concrete highway that somebody must have messed with the level line on the concrete machine or something, because as you drive along, your car starts rocking up and down for about half a mile. Then it stops for a few hundred yards and you start rocking again. It was really bad after it first opened, and they ground it down some, but it continues to this day.

With the trunk full of watermelons.

In my case, it was a '41 Chrysler. Fast getaways in an overloaded car on an unpaved road full of chuck holes can actually break a rear spring. The mechanic who fixed it asked me if I was a bootlegger (Oklahoma was a dry state at the time).

Last spring a local businessman was pulled over by the LEO and suspected of DIY.
He was observed weaving all over the main street .

Even though he explained that he was merely avoiding the many potholes they made him do the test.
However to their chagrin being a prominent local businessman the episode made headlines.

Gov't promptly repaired the many potholes!

Wow that was a shocker this morning, another one of my favorite singers has gone on, fair to say most my favorite singers have gone, least Lorretta is still here. Nothing brings back the good ole days for me like Charley Pride.......

I worked for guy 40 years ago that made a pot hole fix machine, it was a take off of a highway sand spreader he use to build that goes and fits behind any dump truck. I cant find a picture anywhere of the Bryant sand/salt spreader, the last one was made back in 81-ish then they started to rebuild antique wood stoves.

The sander was like a big hopper behind dump truck, could be easily put on and taken off any time, the pot hole version just had a boom on the hopper behind dump truck with a 3' wide heavy roller on end of knuckle boom with 8'-ish reach, operator sat on ditch side of hopper to operate the hydraulic boom, cold patch asphalt fell into hopper from the dump body, augger in hopper funneled patch to center then fall into conveyor in boom and out to the end of roller, patch goes into pot hole and roller would pack it down. Even thouh I was only in my 20s I thought it was a pretty good machine like I'd 10 times rather run that then wheel barrel and shovel.......

Asphalt is also a lot quieter than concrete, but doesn't last nearly as long.

Curiously, how do they compare in standing up to road salt?

I don't think they are rebuilding stoves anymore, either. We have a couple of old "Round Oak" stoves that my BIL thought about bringing there, but the last time I knew he hasn't been able to get in touch with them.
