GC2410 Hood

prob the differences between gc2300 and gc2400 series.
don't have a 1700 series in yard right now but think it uses setup similar to the 2400 pics I posted but don't hold me to that.

I went and took a peek at the hood what I see is the hinge is bolted to a plate that is welded to the hood and that plate snapped off at the welds, so I think my options would be to get someone to weld it back together or maybe drill & bolt it back on so that won't happen again, thoughts?

was wondering about that.
if weldable I would choose that but I have not had mine off so I cannot see thickness of area.

This is exactly what happened to my GC2610 about five years ago. I welded the reinforcing piece back on the hood and made sure it was well done. I then masked of and repainted in black the portion of the hood level with the grille and below it. Looks fine. P.S. I drilled several holes in the small piece and button welded them to the hood as extra reinforcement.

You're right -- I forgot that the 2400-series was the first real change to the GC designs. Mine's one of the last 2300-series tractors. Wish I had your gauge cluster - the one that has a single plastic cover! (Mine's a real PITA to keep clean while blowing snow, with the separate teensy gauges...)

This is the first tractor I have owned, I guess I am happy to hear my cluster gauge is not an issue! That would drive me nuts especially with tiny gauges. Maybe you can create a cover to protect it, you know the saying Necessity is the mother of invention, might be some idea that is simple enough to do.
