I have a Predator engine from HF, and a Honda engine from Northern Tool. They are identical except for the color and price... just over $100 for the former, and around $300 for the latter. The first was made in China, the other was made in Taiwan. I felt pretty foolish when I realized how much extra I'd paid, thinking I was at least paying for first world wages.

I've been pricing air compressors trying to find one which is made in USA. I admit I'm tired of paying extra for that label though, as more and more it seems to be a gimmick, and I"m still buying substandard quality.

They may be identical on the outside. But I bet they aren't on the inside.
Not saying you can't get quality products built in China. You can.. But, it comes at a higher price.

China will build anything to your specs.. Cheap specs, or expensive specs.. Your choice..

I'm willing to bet, day in and day out running the two engines at the same rate, the honda out lives the predator..

I wouldn't have a predator engine on a generator . I may be wrong, but I don't believe it would hold up to a honda engine

Now if HF had that predator built to the same quality specs as the honda, I would have no issue with it. But building it the same would result in the cost being the same as the honda

never heard of this brand saw.. 93 CC saw for $389 shipping included ?
Really beats the price of my 372xp and has more power

It doesn't come with a bar and chain AND I've seen the same one with no bar and chain for $329.

I really like the idea of cheap clones. Lets me buy saws that I won't use that often, just to play around. But I'm not doing that well with them. The MS660 kit leaks oil significantly faster than any Stihl I have. That may be my fault in assembling it. But I have built a lot of motorcycle engines so I don't think I made a major mistake. I had to grind down some fins to get the cylinder to fit- they hit the cases. The ports were not too bad, I did some cleanup and chamfering mostly. Recently I bought a MS440 assembled clone. They forgot to drill the hole in the case that lets you get to the oiler adjustment screw! I need to remove the oil pump and drill it. It also leaks oil but not as bad as the 660. The fuel tank vent leaks gas, ordered a Stihl one. Neither saw came with the right muffler for California where spark arrestors are required. I need to get one of those for the 440. The clone saws don't come with the elastostart handles. The 440 doesn't need it but the 660 sure does.

As far as getting work done it'd be better for me to use what I have and spend the money at the local Stihl dealer if I really need an additional saw. I'd never buy a new MS660 (or 661) but I haven't needed a saw that large since I got it.

They have whole racing classes for those HF 212cc China clone motors of a Honda. Cant beat the price on them. 100-150. End up with whole lot more in them building them for racing though.

My son tried out dirt kart racing last year. So I sold a 83cc of mine to buy a back up stock appearing motor.

Probably the best you can hope for and afford for a compressor is Assembled in the USA, that's pretty close........

That sounds like the stihl chainsaws from VA plant. Read the tag. Assembled with foreign and domestic parts.

I have FT clones of the OE 372xp 440 361 200T 460 660 and some zenoah clones. Cant complain so far. No issues. Think they are up to Generation 4 now too.

My G660 dont leak a drop of oil.

Only one of mine that leaks bar oil is the G111 200T clone. But it is a chainsaw and I dont worry about such things.

On the 372 they IMHO upgraded a part better then OEM. Oem was plastic and the new part on FT is metal.

I see that.. I looked them up after reading them here. Some reviews are good, and some mixed.
A 90+ cc saw including bar and chain for around $500.00 is un heard of in other brands.
