Just another junk chainsaw

Picked up a " Junk " MS361 yesterday at a pawn shop on liquidation @ $90.00. Saw looked like new, No oil/sawdust buildup behind the muffler and nice and clean all over. except a little fresh oil around the carb. Great compression as best I could tell by pulling it over. Guy said it was POS and they can't get it running. He left for a few minutes to do a cash loan so I inpected the saw. I opened the gas cap to look at the filter and the gas tank was 1/2 full of bar oil. I opened the oil cap and it was wet but empty and smelled like gas !!! I said I'll take it. You can guess the rest. Now I have 2 MS361's

I think it was the kid at the shop. Not too bright. He called me this morning and told me that he found the bar and chain that goes with the saw so I have to go back. It sucked getting the bar oil out of the crank and carb but it runs good now. Crazy that the carb could even suck bar oil out of the tank.

Update, Went back to the pawn shop to pick up the bar and chain they called me about. The bar was 14" and said Poulan on it. Funny they're still in business.

See that from time to time. It happens. Suked bar oil right to the carb too.

Cool on 361 for 90 too.

Yeah. I tried to get it for 50.00 but they said no. Once I saw the oil in the gas tank and smelled gas in the oil tank I knew it wouldn't start and it was in nice shape.

I pay and take trade in's all the time 20 to 150 (depending on saw model and make) and they dont run. When you know what the parts alone are worth if you cant make it a runner again no big deal IMHO.

361 would be one of those higher ones. You did great even if it didnt run IMO

I pay and take trade in's all the time 20 to 150 (depending on saw model and make) and they dont run. When you know what the parts alone are worth if you cant make it a runner again no big deal IMHO.

how would a pawn shop that swapped the gas and bar oil have a clue how much the parts are worth?. THAT is what my comment was about.. most people that buy things at a pawn shop want the item in working condition..
