Just another junk chainsaw

There are birthing problems as there will always be on new technology. But translating over to trucks and autos, there is no way I would ever go back to carbs after having FI. Just my 2 pennies.

Same will be for 2 strokes. That said, for now all my chainsaws are carbed.

A person today can pick up and get running a chainsaw made 40 years ago with maybe a carb kit. Will a person 40 years from now be able to pick up a MS500i and get it running again? Will they have the right software file to program the saw?

Does it matter?

Bought a new 261c, it's time for the 032 to retire to backup status. IMG_20210211_202234.jpeg

Local bought that NOS 3.3 I knew about Nov 2020. He couldnt get it running right so I took it in for a look after changing lines and carb kit.

1996 on tag

Saw came in saying only run on half choke. Choke off just for few seconds.
Soon as I seen the tank vent routing heading under air filter I pretty much knew what I would find.

All good now. He had line routing wrong. Didnt run impulse line. He had run tank vent to impulse line.

Some trade in's yesterday. Now to see whats up and move them.

The NOS 3.3 was also traded in after 2 tanks of cutting. He wanted a bigger cc saw he tried out.

That first green one is a funky looking saw, I see a good orange one out of the bunch though....

I keep waiting for him to show an old blue Homelite. I gave both of mine away years ago when I bought my first saw with a chain brake... I sure wish that I hadn't.

Or maybe a big yellow McCullough. You had to be a real man just to carry that one into the woods!

Neighbor in MA had one of those McCullough, think with a 48" on it.
I could barely lift it off the ground. He lifted it onto his shoulder like a toy.
He did work as a lumberjack though. He also had a few two man saws, now that's a workout!
