I have owned a couple of the cheap poulan saws as well. They didn't last very long .
I now have two Husky saws. They cost waaaay more money than the poulans, but when I need a say. I need a saw. I don't want to have to fool with it an hour trying to get it started, or have to adjust it to keep it running.
I can go to the shop and pick up my 55, or my 372 and pull them about three times and they will start / run until they run out of gas, or I turn them off... I have never had that type of luck with a poulan, even though husky owns them
I have a Poulan "Wild Thing",which I bought new for $100. It always starts when I need it although that's only about once every year and a half, and I'm constantly adjusting the carb. I can't run it very long because of the vibration... plus because after running Huskies and even Echoes for years it's hard to tolerate the low budget Poulan.

Thats the sprocket one gets with a $400.00 Stihl saw, Husky have rim sprockets, my cheap 501p Echo also has rim sprocket.....
That's one of the many things which went wrong with a Jonsereds I had years ago... I was about a mile up a boundary line after snowsledding several miles into the woods. When I took it back to the dealer he looked at it and said "I never saw one break like THAT before."
I always thought that saw was made by an Irishman the day after St Patrick's Day, after his wife had burned the cabbage and thrown him out of the house. I gave up on that saw after a year and sold it back to the dealer I'd bought it from. It spent most of it's time there anyways...
Just read this about another 661 stihl. Dont they cost around $1300. Yep buy once 
:rotfl:. Nope not anymore even with OEM. Seems 661 have been a 50/50 gamble going from all the post on them in chainsaw repair group over the years.
= You take the same chances when buying new Stihl saws for commercial use. The warranty is only 30 or 60 days I think. I bought a new 661 and after about 3 months , it ran so rich couldn't hardly even use it. I took it in and they worked on it but then tried charging me like 300 bucks for parts and labor. I threw a fit to Stihl and they covered the parts while I paid for the labor. Saw ran good for about 3 more months and the same again. It's been sitting in a corner ever since. I'm not putting 200 dollars into it every 3 months.

Stihl was about to loose their Forrest service contract due to their 661 and Mtronic not working in hot conditions. Stihl just released a 661 with no mtronic. Might have to pick one of those up.
I now view Mtronic and autotune as saws to stay away from. They were really just a stop gap until the FI saws prove themselves. However, those 500i have a **** computer and control board right by the air filter. Too many sensors for me.
Once I order the 661 with no mtronic. It will make my arsenal complete with all adjustable carb saws. The way it should be.
