We were talking of maintenance issues recently.

My wife reminded me that the freezer, beer fridge and washer and drier were all 20 years old.....
Heck the freezer is even older, moved twice!
Good news is none are 'new fangled' digital controlled thus even I can repair as long as I can get parts.
From experience, other than timers, most repairs are easy and affordable.
Give me simple, like 'ON/OFF'.
We have a range with all kinds of timer options.
Guess what? never was a meal timer cooked, but shortly washing and drying will be on timers due to higher raising costs of electricity.
Heck with smart meters Hydro can raise daytime and peak hour rates at will.
YES, around here Hydro charged us to update to Smart Meters.
Like we PAID them to make more money.
I always thought a firm was the one that INVESTED to increase profits.

You have a hot and cold line reversed somewhere. I had the a similar issue. Found it when I tore out the Master Bath. The faucet in the shower wasn't marked so you really never knew. But when I tested the new shower valve I found it.

YOU are the new HERO of this thread!

Just checked the washer supply hoses, and I must have crossed the hoses, when I swapped the valve guts.
I think the problem is SOLVED !!
THANK YOU!!!

First post: 9:37 AM. Resolved by 2:21 PM. 5 hours has to be a new TBN record... if anybody was keeping track.

Good to hear that you can take a hot shower again.

Thought the issue had been resolved with a perceived problem at the washing machine selector valve, but......
It now makes more sense that it may actually be the toilet mix valve.
Output from the mix valve is full hot to toilet, when it should only be tempered water.
Cold is likely backfeeding internally.

I'm guessing that 40+ year old valve is kaput!
The hot feed to that valve is shut off now, so will see how shower goes tonight.
Will likely replace mix valve (nasty location) tomorrow.

Was the crossing of the hoses having an effect on your laundry?

Don't really know!
I very rarely stick an arm into the washing machine.
I use cold water wash, but I don't normally do laundry myself.
I don't wash dishes either....that is what dishwashers are for.
Now though, my honey is in Florida with my sweet Lab puppy, and I am here having to do some non manly things ...like laundry.

So when you thought it was washing with cold, it was using hot?
