That would be nice, a serviceable water pump. If that's the case, I'll just call the dealer for the parts.
Do you know if this one is?

Funny. My "Best" friend is an Onan Commercial Generator dealer. It's where I get all my Oan Generators. But aside from getting stuff lying around, he never even bothers to entertain getting parts for me from Onan because he knows I won't like the price. NOT EVEN FILTERS!

I put one starter in my conventional 7.5 with Kubota Engine. Just bought it (cheap) off E-Bay for the Kubota Engine. I bet Onan would have been $800.00 CDN! I think they may have written the book on gouging! And as a dealer, they aren't allowed to substitute!

I just bought a new water pump for my Kubota Loader. It was so cheap aftermarket , it wasn't worth trying to change the bearing and seal. Although I kept it, in case for next time.

What motor is it? Tried looking up the model without success.

I don't recall seeing a model # but it's a 4 cyl. turbocharged. Chilli sent me some great information and I don't remember where I stuck it in the computer.

I bought it from a dealer, it was a take out and a friend of his ran it for a while at his gas station for back up before I got it. He serviced it before I got it and all the filters are new.....NAPA filters. (insert laughing emoji) what happened to them?

I'm guessing Isuzu. I have a 12KW. Smoothest Diesel I own!

It should say on the Engine Valve Cover or nearby.

I'd start with the Cummins Dealer - get a quote for the pump, filters, and coolant. What I've seen of Fleetguard's coolant up here, it's not that badly priced.

Many folks ignore coolant specs, or worse, just ignore the coolant altogether.... doesn't end well usually..... preaching/choir hopefully  , but ignoring water quality is almost as bad...... go with at least distilled, or even better de-ionized if not using Pre-Mixed......

Apologies for boring re-run ^, but I've seen too many engines badly damaged by ignoring those basics.

Can't remember the hours/age of yours, but while your at it, changing the thermostat might not be a bad idea. No guarantee, but I've seen a w. pump leak a lot less with just a new thermostat.

If the water pump is easy to change, might be worth trying a cheapy aftermarket one, but if you do get the Cummins PN for the pump, my first choice in the aftermarket would be PAI. Up here PAI often won't sell to a walk-in customer, so you might need to call in a favour from a buddy in the the trade to get access to them.

Best of luck Rusty, and let us know how things work out.....

👍 Just under 1100 hrs. It's as good a time as ever particularly doing the pump. I have some test strips but there pretty old, maybe even 20 years. Do they go bad?

Check in with Cummins, but typically a modern long-life diesel anti-freeze does not require SCA/DCA. Empty out all the old afrz, flush if you are using concentrate (to recover the freeze point, worst-case), and toss in the new stuff....

Friend says he installed a 20K 3 ph Onan in a truck to run a Planer. He "thinks" it was Kubota powered.
