My apologies for being late in saying THANKS. The steel doesn't have to be preheated very much does it?

On my tablet ° appears when I tap ?123 then ~[< to the left of the bottom row of letters.
I never even looked into it on my iPad. But to get degree you hit the .?123 key, than hold the zero key. Lets test it

23°

It works

My Jackson boss helmet has adjustable darkening lens for welding, plus grinding option and gas cutting setting.

Well my cheapskate Antra helmet I got off Amazon is also adjustable auto-darkening and has grinding setting as well...which is good coz I'm a grinder, not a welder. :D

I like my eyes too much to trust a chinese helmet.

I have one of the antra hoods, bought as a "backup" from recommendations here - works fine, my Jackson now sits in its bag most of the time...

GRS, maybe I'm a bit more jaded after 75 years on the planet, but whaddaya think the statement "made/assembled in USA from GLOBALLY sourced components" REALLY means??!? ... Steve (last I looked, you could find that statement on Hypertherm's site - still "made" in america)

When I purchased it years ago I had to scoure the internet to find one single manufacturer saying hood is USA. The box said 100% MADE IN USE.

Not sure what they make anymore. I think the lithium batteries are chinese though

Yeah, it just keeps gettin' "better" - years ago when stuff from Japan was just starting to NOT be badmouthed, there was an article about a town in japan being re-named USA - after that, more than a few US companies starting putting PERIODS between their U.S.A. stamps.

I'm of the opinion that it won't be long with our greedy company execs and stockholders, before your loaf of bread has a china stamp on it (or not, more likely)... Steve

All the time up here except outside in bright sunshine in 95*+ weather, thats about two weeks worth in summer time. My 2019 HP laptop I heard has the degree symbol somewhere but but probably have to click this and that and or click and hold something, that's why I haven't really looked into it....

But is the lens clear for grinding? I need clear to see what I'm grinding or not grinding.........

"made/assembled in USA from GLOBALLY sourced components" REALLY means??!?
For made in:
My take is that shipping was COD, packaging and instruction sheets printed in USA and that the total net item offshore cost less than 50% of US retail.
In other words all real manufacturing is offshore.

Then for assembled in USA might simply mean sticking the label on or screwing 2 halves together,0.

Mind U that is how it was and may have changed.

These 40lb water softener bags have lately become more like 100lb bags but a hand truck helps in weight distribution but hand trucks come with a to small of a hand to make them handy, but that only applies to me and thats why everyone else is happy dappy with hand trucks.

So this weekend was the last bag, I couldn't take it anymore, I finally took matters in my own hands and made the hand truck more handy for over size loads, no more falling off and rubbing on wheels so take that.........
PS Not liken this new format.........

Hey that's smart. Unfortunately my water softener is in the basement, so I'd still have to haul them bags down there by hand. But I could find other uses for that gizmo you made, cool!

That is handy! My water softener is in the pump house and I just drive there with the load of sacks and carry them 10', but I do find the same limitations with hand trucks so may make something like that at some point...

My water softener is in the basement to but I have a walk-in basement, just have to go down around to get to it so a hand-truck will roll in the door way and the best part is, now the bags wont fall off or on hand-truck tires.

PS, I dont care for this new TBN up-grade.......

Never heard of a pump house before, my guess is, it's a house for a water pump.
Next problem will be, how am I going to lift those bags in the round thing when I'm 80...........

That's easy for me. The Culligan man delivers bags of salt, carries them to the basement, dumps it into the tank and hauls out the trash as he leaves. $35 for 150 pounds, I think is a bargain.

We get these 40lb bags for around 7-$8.00 so I'd say your doing good, nearest Culligan man for me is 70mi so not sure if I'd get the same bargain, but something to look into.

Yeah, didn't know how common pumphouse was? Mine's just a 8x8 plastic home depot shed in the yard with the holding tank and water softener stuff in it... the water softener stuff (two tank system) is all shot and the purge vales leak constantly instead of just when they're "regenerating" so they probably need replaced... They were put in in 2004...
