Stihl KM 131R kombi review

The Stihl 131R Kombi is literally my favorite tool. I have 4 shafts all fitted with different tools (string, brush cutter, pole saw & chainsaw brush blade). The brush cutter is amazing and I've cleared well over an acre of shrubs, small saplings, weeds and grass with that thing. It's insane how this tool has transformed my property. I have so many hours on the 131R I'm just waiting for it to stop running. I highly, highly recommend it!

If Stihl ever comes out with a more powerful version, it'll be on the top of my list!

Stihl was suppose to come out with a head to hold .180 string but there was a delay. That's what we will use to clear tree shoots with. We use heavy string like these to claer shoots along trails in th4 northern hardwoods we reside within. We've used 155 string for many years and hope to bump up to this 180.

Seems he's not coming back to reply but I'd guess he was talking about a steel blade of sorts. We tried them but discontinued due to there small cutting radius and rocks.

I used blades, but I agree that the cutting radius is smaller. But they cut through what string cannot. So it is a tradeoff.

Both trimmer string and brush cutter blades throw rocks. I just paid $800 for a window on my patio because of a rock thrown by the string trimmer.

As stated 2 posts back, Stihl was suppose to come out with a new head to hold .180 string and that's what we will use to clear tree shoots with. We've used 155 strings for many years and hope to bump up to this larger 180. We wear forestry hard hats will running heavey strings and have knocked out the glass in our truck with it.

I wouldn’t trade my mulching brush cutter blade for anything on my 131R. It’s the best attachment I have and has cleared a TON of brush on my property. Still more to go....Luckily, I haven’t hit any windows or done any property damage.

Hell, my neighbor has been so impressed with my progress, he went out and bought one last week. He’s lived here for over 40 years, lol

How does a trimmer blade “mulch”?
