I fully agree that chit would not fly in our state..Down wires are HIGH priority ...They must be yellow taped off or have a wire guard standby until a crew arrives.

There would be a truck here within an hour to repair said down wire. Unless it was the result of an ice storm with thousands of broken wires. The electric folks here are very responsive to any and everything. I cannot complain at all about White River Electric here in Taney county.

Driving down to Dayton, OH from northern MI to visit my daughter, I wondered about the big hgh tower electrical transmission lines. Ones with 6 or 8 wires. Are those all primaries, ie like 7200 volts? Just wondering with all this electrical knowledge here. Jon

I think they are about 345,000 volts.

Notice the very first thing he does when approaching the line is the metalic rod he sticks out there to energize himself and the helicopter yp the the line voltage so the rod takes the arc and the very last thing he does is let that rod drag across that line so it takes the arc. It doesn't show if he has a corona hood around his head or not. I have heard that corona can build up around your head when you are attached to those very high voltage lines and make it difficult to see properly, 765kv is a lot of volts.

Could be 145,000,345.000 0r 745,000 transmission lines.
