On this day in 1959, American architect Frank Lloyd Wright passed away at the age of 89. He was recognized as one of the greatest American architects of all time.
On this day in 2001, Baseball Hall of Fame player Willie Stargell passed away at the age of 61.
On this day, Prince Phillip of Britain passed away at age 99. I do not understand the royal thing but he appears to have lived a good life. RIP sir.

Willie Stargell was a very good player. I remember when Keith Hernandez of the Cardinals and Willie Stargell shared the 1979 MVP in the NL.

Only time ever it was a tie.

The Cardinals and Yankees are the only teams to have had a player win the MVP award at each position.

Yes I remember watching him and others from that era on TV. Back in the day when baseball wasn't a social message platform. I miss the baseball games of that era.

I’m with you. But, I’m afraid, it’ll never be the same.

Once MLB went on strike in the 90's I stopped watching them. Little league, grade school and high school sports are more enjoyable to watch.

Yep... me too and now have little interest in pro sports but enjoy a good high school game...

While telling stories.

I grew up in WI and FLLW is quite the celeb among some folks although, Many cheesers never heard of him. I joined the FLLW society and have had a number of semi private tours including Falling Water in Penn and his winter school in Scottsdale. His Summer school is west of Madison WI. (mad city)

He lead a fascinating life but, if you are interested, don't read the auto biography.....it tends to favor the author.

I have a book that lists every FLLW building, by state. In my travels I would go out of my way to at least get a look. Most are private residences with security fences to keep people like me out. During the Scottsdale campus tour we entered the auditorium and my wife said.....look at that! She was referring to a Steinway grand piano on stage. It was FLLW's personal piano! The tour gal said to my wife....do you play? Nope but.......he does, pointing at me. That says something in its own right but......anyway, she let me play it.....so i got that goin for me. Went back 5 years later with my brothers kids, piano gone, termites, had to burn it. Shame on somebody!

One of the coolest interiors on the planet is the Johnson & Johnson office building in Racine WI. Might be called Johnson Wax co?

I was born in a house that my father built by hand. He was an architect and had some influence from FLW. The house was heavily influenced by that style. Wonderful place to grow up. Over my life we toured many structures that FLW designed, and read many books about his creations as well. FLW was heavily influenced by Sullivan's "form follows function". That sounds great, doesn't it? However, FFF lead to many deficient engineering decisions in FLW structures. It also lead to excessive costs and unfulfilled contracts. From everything we read and discussed with curators at FLW museums, he was a creative genius, extreme self-promoter, and not what most would consider ethical in business dealings.

Great stuff to look at. Fun to live or work in his designs. $$$ to keep repairing the structural deficiencies.

Hire an architect for design and aesthetics, then run it through an engineer to see if it's feasible.
