Hey irvingj, what were your clues regarding the need for the new gears/chain ?

I have noticed for the last few years the driveline U joints are showing signs of being loose after greasing them after the winter season.

Just rotating the blower drive by hand, I could feel a tight spot that I couldn't eliminate. I just didn't get to it in time. Interestingly, the new chain is a real o-ring chain; the original one was not. It does sound a lot smoother now.

Bought from dealer?

Yes, I have only me to blame -- ordered it new with the tractor in early 2008 (back when Northwood Power was still around); I apparently didn't keep it lubed well enough over the years. It gets worked hard every winter -- and will get some use today after our 6" of wet snow yesterday.

Turning a muddy logging road into a proper gravel driveway for a rifle range I'm building for myself on 85 acres of pine timber. Lots of box and grader blade (not to mention chainsaw and backhoe) work to get to this point. Today I spread about another 100 ft of recycled concrete. Very satisfying!

My 2760 and CB 85 have been terrific.

It's been a busy first month with the tractor! I mounted ROPS lights. Moved several tons of rocks. Moved 10 tons of dirt and graded 22 ground tree stumps. Moved about a ton of firewood. Pics show the lights, they are awesome. You can see the headlights only and then with the ROPS lights, and the rear lights allow me to back down the hill through the woods. One small issue, mounting the forward light below the bar, it shines into the back of my head so my head blocks a bit of the light but it's a wide bar so it seems to fill in the gaps, plus I am almost always bouncing around a little anyway.

Yeh, that's pretty cool with the lights. I'm just curious though, some of you guys here look like you got some digging to be done eventually, why didn't you buy the tractor with the backhoe?

I debated the backhoe when buying my machine. For my application and use, it is less expensive to rent a mini ex for the task instead of buying the backhoe and maintaining it. The same applies for a 3pt. chipper. $3,200 for a chipper, I can rent the unit from the dealer for $200 for a weekend. I use it once or twice a year, it would take a long time to break even and I don't have to sharpen the knives.
