If the continents hadn't drifted apart, mankind might have evolved to be all be the same race/language/culture.

Bruce
It doesn't work that way. Even in a small geological area like Europe, there are dozens of different languages and cultures. There are even some racial differences, but none as pronounced as between Europe and Africa, even though Africans were the original occupants of Europe. Differences in the habitat in Europe led to the loss of dark skin and other physical features.

It is possible a factually proven real-time encounter of alien life would trigger a widespread, global fear response.

Even if it were not the alien's intent, mankind would automatically assume they intend dominion...it's in our DNA.

At any rate, life as we have known it will be measurably changed...an innocence lost, never to return.

There have been thousands of folks who claim to have been abducted by aliens. That fact has not triggered a widespread global fear response. Nor has the sightings of UFOs triggered fear. It's going to take some big, negative, televised event to create the fear.

Ha. Maybe not as perhaps:

- the media would report in a calm, non- sensational manner. No speculation or guessing. No outrageous headlines to grab viewers to pad ratings

- people would just go about daily life until facts are known

- there would be no hoarding of anything

- Congress will act in a non-selfish manner putting the needs of voters ahead of their own agendas

Well, um, er —- you are correct. Widespread panic!!!!!

This is just my opinion, but the reason these reported UFO events don't cause widespread panic now is because 90 percent of the population don't hear about or pay attention to these reports, and the reports, even the ones with video are "fuzzy" at best. Hard to prove and hard to say what it really was.

Then the majority of people don't really believe what they have seen. BUT if you had some irrefutable evidence, such as a nice UFO landed somewhere and you had 24/7 news coverage of it, well then it would be hard to deny. And yes there would be some widespread panic. And yes we as a species would never be the same.

It is one thing to speculate about things as we are doing here, and it is all just good fun. It is another thing to actually KNOW a thing is true. And what if it was more than one ship or was a large ship? What would we think then? What would people speculate about our future? Yeah, it would be a big deal for sure.

I really doubt that will happen. As a species we will probably, through being drawn closer by modern transportation and communication, become closer and more familiar, but I don't think it will ever overcome the tribal mentality. People tend to take pride in their differences and their cultures and their beliefs, and look down upon those who are different.

Any even when there’s no actual difference in cultures, our dna and tribe mentality create them. Example: Professional sports fans. Totally arbitrary tribalism. Look at the resultant division, fights and arguments this causes (granted most times its in good fun “rivalry” / tribalism). People will travel and devote themselves to what they call “my team”, when in fact some billionaires actually ownes it and all they do is give him money for tickets and merchandise so they can feel like some part of a tribe.

Admitting to aliens would cause widespread fear and destabilization. Think of the effects on religion. Aliens ain’t dope with the Pope (although the latest Pope is open to the possibility).

You think super intelligent aliens would come here and do some big widespread televised event?

Meh...they’d more likely monitor us in ways we don’t even know about (they don’t call them bugs for nothing.) Fun fact: “On average, 61.84 spiders can be found per home. There is probably a spider within reach of you right now. The global average spider density stands at about 131 spiders per square meter. “ - literally a world wide web, ha ha.

An intelligent race could easily control mankind with a few well placed “influencers”: media, food additives, think tanks, technological leaks, etc..

Or perhaps getting everyone to line up and get a vaccine.

...There have been thousands of folks who claim to have been abducted by aliens. ...

LoL...The key word here is "claim"...the really funny ones are the ones that claim to have been "implanted"...The sad news is there is not one iota of physical/scientific data or evidence to substantiate said claims...sort of like the myth people call bigfoot...no scientific evidence=no proof...

FWIW...this does not mean I think we are alone...I just like facts that have not been tainted...
