No.

"The Rust Belt is a region of the Northeastern and Midwestern United States that has been experiencing industrial decline starting around 1980. It is made up largely of the Great Lakes Megalopolis, though definitions vary. Rust refers to the deindustrialization, economic decline, population loss, and urban decay due to the shrinking of its once-powerful industrial sector, such as steel production, automobile manufacturing, and coal mining. The term gained popularity in the U.S. in the 1980s,[1] when it was commonly contrasted with the Sun Belt which was surging then."

The issue was you couldn't lie like a Southern Baptist 🤣 (just joking as anyone can lie)

I know some religious guys in my own industry because they let you know it. Ironcially enough, apparently there is nothing in the Bible about paying your bills. That said, there are some good men I know as well who are pretty religious and you would never know it without actually getting to know them as a person.

I was up in Lynchburg on a job with a project manager. We ate at an "old peoples seafood place" (as I call them) for lunch. I'm at the table, say a quick unnoticed prayer and start to eat as this other guy I was with was coming back to the table with his food. He comes to the table, sits, bows his head on his hands in prayer, and says this minute long prayer out loud. Nothing wrong with that, been there done that. BUT...once the guy gets done saying his prayer, he looks up at me and starts rheeming one of his employees out to me using every curse word in the book. I was like dang, 0 to 60 in a second flat.

Off topic, but the subject got me going LOL
I spent a ton of time in Lynchburg, GE had a big radio plant there.

This is the truth. They hired a young engineer from England, might have been in the 80s. He was very good but didn't last long. We were out somewhere eating lunch and he was on his 3rd beer. There were 3-4 GE guys and me, always very very informal.

Jerry Farwell walked in with his group and the english guy started yelling....i been saved...i been saved! He jumped up on his chair and continued!

It was harmless and he got away with it i guess because of his strong english accent. It was a hoot.

We left.

Doing work for Liberty University is worse than dealing with the state schools procurment offices. At least with the state, you know you're going to get paid. With Liberty university, better get half your money up front or they'll rope you into indentured work for you to get paid for a job you did 6 months ago.

OK, I admit it. One of my Lynchburg customers mentioned Liberty College. Back in the day it was a college. I think the difference is a University can award PHds....or something.

My customer had mentioned Liberty so I responded with the standard response......oh, you mean lobotomy college?

To that he said, my daughter is a sophomore there.

Its a slippery slope when we take a group, whether religious, race, color, creed, nationality and say they dont pay on time, bad to work for, bad parents, etc.
For example, I was told by some uninformed people that Jewish people are cheap, resist paying, etc. I built a monster garage, house addition and porch for a Jewish couple in my neighborhood and they are probably the kindest, most cooperative, fastest paying people I ever worked for. We remain friends for life. I now snowplow their driveway and my kids house sit for them when they vacation.

Old rumors and reputation, deserved or not, die hard.

I prayed every day my daughter would get into Liberty to play womens field hockey. Her club teammate got in, but my daughter didnt. She goes to a different indoctrination facility.

I did some tennis officiating for Liberty a few years ago.

Players were nice, coach was respectful and they paid on time.

Nothing different from any other university.

When a job should be bonded because the total job cost is for a crap load of money that could leave someone hanging, you may find that the university feels a bond is not required because they are in good standing with the community and if you want the work, you do it on their terms instead of CYA.

I'm also guessing they don't pay anywhere between 20k to 2 million to officiate for a tennis match?

I would think it goes without saying that you can never use a broad paint brush to lable a group.

Honestly, saying I have a Jewish friend is kind of like saying I have a black friend or a Mexican friend.

Point being, people are people, good and bad in any stereotypical group.

What I have found though from personal experience is that people who claim to be a good Christian in business you darn well better cover your butt on getting paid or having the work done correctly. As a Christian myself, do I really give a ratts butt if a business doing work for me proclaims their Christian beliefs? I only care about them doing the work right, and charging me accordingly.

I only mentioned Liberty university as far as screwing people over because I know they use to run some very long "delayed" terms that were never written into a contract and if the contractor took them to court, they'd never get work there again. I know of a couple of other well known "Christian" groups who have made the news by "well known" leaders who are basically a pain in the butt to deal with money wise collecting. Same thing for some individual small businesses who "proclaim" being Christian.

I see a "Christian" sign on a business card or vehicle, I won't call them.

God does not help you run a business but you would think God will tell you to treat others as you would have unto yourself. Personally, I don't think God wants us screwing each other.

Three things you never mess with...

A mans dog.
A mans wife.
A mans money.

You may or may not find those rules in the Bible, but it's a good set of rules to live by IMO.

Ironically enough, even the past president of Liberty University couldn't even figure that out, and you lead by example.

It's funny but I've found the same. I figure many just use it as some sort of logo to attract business, but then I'd also say I've never met a Christian who actually followed the teachings of Jesus. They'll say they do, and maybe they honestly think they do, but it's not evident according to any Bible I've ever read.
