Whole house generator

I paid I think $4,000 for my 22 kW generac from Lowe's using a 20% coupon 3 years ago. Had an electrician charged me 1800 bucks to install it that included the cost of the disconnects and aluminum wire. I'm located in Southern Maine on the New Hampshire border everyone else was quoting me 9,000 plus was crazy

The stipulation is needs to be installed by an Authorized Generac Service provider. Didn’t know until I was reading the fine print. Did not know a Generac Service guy was 5 miles away until I was looking for the service.
That’s bs. Ive repaired many owner installed units. But it DOES have to be installed per code and per installation manual. GENERAC has never asked me who installed unit. They do ask for pictures showing installation in questionable problems. I have had calls for warranty issues where unit won’t start, to find it hooked up to a propane grill canister. Of course GENERAC won’t warranty that.
GENERAC has always paid for warranty repairs on properly installed units that I have serviced.

the ONLY stipulation GENERAC has is WARRANTY REPAIRS have to be done thru generac certified repair facility. Not installation.

I have removed that from my previous post. My misinterpretation. Sorry if I caused any angst here, not my intention.

My local electrical contractor just published a notice that there is an approximate 6 month lead time to deliver a whole house generator.

If there lucky. there supposed to be opening a second assembly plant back East. Not sure when. This will really help.

its not just generators. Getting repair and maint parts also is slow. I stocked up on air filters, spark plugs, oil filter and oil . The order was placed 6 weeks ago, but only received last Thursday.

These lead time things are confusing. Some may well be running that long, maybe even most. I ordered my 16KW on November 26th and it was delivered on December 30th. Nobody has been able to explain how it arrived in 4 weeks instead of the 12-16 weeks initially estimated.

Took two months, but my local company finally received their shipment. They installed my generator unit on Friday. It's a 18kw surge / 12.5kw continuous. Propane install should be on Wednesday. The portable 22kw gas unit I have been using for the past 8 years has done a great job and was only needed a handful of times. At least I won't have to go out - move it to its location and plug it. Getting too old for that stuff.

does natural gas or propane make more sense for a whole house generator on a rural property. At this point, I do not have either on the property. Thanks!

All about cost and availability. Is NG available? If so, what would it cost to run it to the house/generator location? Is there an LP supplier local? If so, what are their charges for tanks and installation? Then check recurring rate for the gas.
