Tractor
Branson 2505h
So a while back my Branson tractor started overheating and then eventually (after it was cleaned) would start, run like 15 to 20 mins then all of a sudden shut off randomly. After it was cleaned (air filter, radiator screen, etc etc), the tractor wouldn't overheat but it would still shut off randomly. I had to wait about 5 mins and it would start and run but would have to cool down before I could use it for another 15 to 20 mins. This got fixed eventually... It ended up being the fuel feed pump and it worked afterwards for about 7 months up to now.

What happened recently is very similar! Tractor overheated due to working it around a lot of dirt and tall buffel grass but this time it wouldn't start up even after it cooled down. The tractor starts but within 2 to 3 seconds it dies. I figured it was the same fuel feed pump so I ordered it. Only thing is that all I could find was an aftermarket/unbranded pump from amazon. The new pump has been installed and the tractor still dies after 2 to 3 seconds. The tractor has had its radiator screen cleaned, the diesel filters replaced and the air filter replaced with no luck. The lines seem to not be clogged. What might be my problem? Probably a solenoid?

Of course you've bleed the fuel lines good and I wouldn't be concerned with the new pump, perhaps a bent fuel line . I would cut à seven foot piece of water hose stick it down to the bottom of the fuel tank and siphon a gallon and see what's in there, diesel is real bad about gunking up with trash.

Yes I've bled the fuel lines... I'll see tomorrow if I can do that

Post some pictures of your stop solenoid. Depending on what type you can just simply remove it for testing.

Sorry couldn't get better pictures... I already drained the tank, blew air through the fuel lines to clear them and when I put everything back I also used new diesel from a different brand gas station to no avail... Would it now eliminate everything else except the solenoid?

EDIT: Forgot to mention it's a 3 prong/wire solenoid

That is what I thought I would see. You can remove the two bolts holding the solenoid on then pull it off. There is a o-ring seal that is easy to lose so be mindful of that.

Once the solenoid is free of the engine leave it connected to the wires. When you turn the key on nothing should happen. When you turn key to start the engine you should see the solenoid suck in. Once key is released it should stay in until key is switched to off.

Be careful doing this as the tractor may start and run just fine. Make sure it is not in gear.

If the solenoid does not energize then you need to check the fuses and stop relay.

I guess I should mention if tractor does run you will have to manually push in and hold the pump rack to kill it. You can feel it in the hole for the solenoid but can not see it. You may want to locate that before you start the tractor. Lol

I'll do that right now... Let me also mention that the tractor keeps running when you keep the key turned (start position)... Once you let the key go to the "run" position, the tractor dies

Figured it out...

So it's the solenoid?

Well, most likely it will be the switch or relay. Explain what you saw.
