L vs M series Kubotas?

Are there any known issues with this particular clutch setup?

There are no issues at all if you know how to handle a dry clutch.
I recommend you remove your foot from it as soon as you are in gear, and avoid feathering the engagement as much as possible.
They burn faster than you think.

Again, a multi-plate wet clutch is a much durable setup and it will transfer power more efficiently.
An example of this is the M5660, it has 56 engine hp and the only powertrain loss is 6hp, transferring 50hp to the pto.

I would bet not for the vast majority of users. The one guy who uses a single bottom plow for is six acre garden would be the one to come up and say the transmission can't handle a normal tractor load, and while he's correct not many folks use compact tractors for ground engaging work as much as they use them for their swiss army knife capabilities (by "they" I'm included).

M is a more basic utility farm tractor.

Grand L has more bells and whistles.

Both great machines!

How has it been determined the clutch is inadequate?
Yeaaa, the whiner transmission guys would have you believe that dry clutches are weak and burn up regularly!

I have thousands of hours on dry clutches in tractors, and I've yet to have to replace even one!

Don't constantly slip them and you won't have to constantly replace them...

I never said that the dry clutch "is inadequate", simply pointed out that a multi-plate wet clutch is a more robust solution.
I personally own a Small compact 8x8 shuttle with a simple dry clutch setup, but I know that I should be careful not to ride or slip nor feather the clutch engagement.
The net is filled with dry clutch issues, which IMHO may attributed to user error.

I would continue to recommend wet clutch over any dry clutch system, but to each their own.
If a dry clutch system works for you, then good for you. - At that point is a personal preference, and you said it your self
"Don't constantly slip them and you won't have to constantly replace them..."

I would recommend you to get the HST version instead or the Manual Transmission,
The DT version of this tractor comes with a Single Plate Dry Clutch, which is not heavy duty at all.

There is also a M5660 which comes with a Power Shuttle trans mission and a multiple plate wet clutch. Is a little heavier and slightly above the MX series in terms of capabilities, more rugged machine. -You might want to take a look at that model as well.

Good luck.
I quoted you. You claim the dry clutch is inadequate. Close enough for those of us with a normal command of American English.
RickB, not sure what your intentions are, but I'm sorry if the way I expressed my recommendation gave you a negative vibe.
It was not my intention.

I would appreciate your understanding on this matter.
Whish you a Happy Friday.

“negative recommendations “ will do that. I’m still wondering if you have any real basis for your comment. We haven’t done an M or MX clutch job in the almost 4 years I’ve worked in a Kubota shop.
