There are a lot of different rules by state. I was lucky and had 3 good kids too. Unfortunately, we have 4 kids...

In Wisconsin, my wife went the lawyer route...16 years ago?...$75 and it went away. Less than half of the fine and no insurance problems. Nevada, I went to traffic school. Nevada has a law that if there is an accident, someone gets a ticket. I set my pathfinder on its side drive down Mt. Charleston on black ice. Ticket was 110 plus 6 points...circa 1992...had to go to court 3 times and meet with a DA...turned it into a $110 parking ticket. A better deal than insurance going up.

I haven't had any of those issues on ours. Can always look up and watch a family members drive in real-time with speeds updated as the trip progresses. Usually speed has been accurate withing 1 or 2 mph.
My trip to Tennessee today using the app was a success IMO. At this point, pretty impressed with it.

Again thank you for the information.

It's actually nice to be able to know where your family members are without having to text them.

We just use the find my iPhone feature and my wife, one of our kids, and I can all see where the other one is. Doesn't give any stats, but we know how far away they are. and when to start the dinner. (y)

Way I figure it, as long as our kids are on our insurance, it's nice to know what their maximum speed is LOL

Yes, in a perfect world, no need to know.

Locally you can pay to go to some completely ridiculous driving school which cost $105 when I had to go and your record stays clean. No lawyer and no insurance involved. Does that option not exist there?
Do you plead guilty and then take the class?

Do they have "Prayer for Judgement continued" in Tenn? I'm guessing not.

Ironically enough my wife mentioned this to me on our walk on Sunday that our son had research this option.

Point is every state is different when it comes to their traffic laws.

I did hire an attorney (which my son is paying for out of his pocket) and I asked him (the lawyer) about this "prayer" judgement. He recommended against it and gave me a list of reasons why per my son, it would be his last choice per a course of action which actually made complete sense to me. Reality is I'm not an expert when it comes to law, and IMO is nice to know your options from someone who does know the law.

At the end of the day, we're not fighting the ticket by hiring a lawyer, but hopefully having the charges reduced. Luckily he wasn't charged with reckless driving at that "home run" speed.

Besides that, since my son is paying the tab, he will deal with the lawyer one on one himself and decide which course he wants to go. I figure it will give him a better understanding of the law and why a lawyer can be a good thing.

End of day, will be less expensive per the insurance with the lawyer route rather than he just pleads guilty.

Looking back at my life, I think it was best that my father did not know what I was doing with the family car. He was already stressed out by my 4 older siblings (all girls).

When you check someone's location does it alert them that they are being checked on?

On lawyers and tickets:

Years back I was ticketed following a modest rear ender.
One read 'following too close' (minor fine) and the second reckless driving (mandatory suspension)

Being a sales rep the second would have cost me my job so I contacted a lawyer (s) Fee's started at $1000, totally unaffordable back then, so I called around and more I called the fees varied all over 'til the last one.
Now he was a 'corporate lawyer' vs ambulance chaser.

His advice? and free over the phone, plead guilty to the minor and they'll drop the other.

My take was that 9 of 10 lawyers were not in the 'honest' category.

I did however buy the 'honest advisor' a fine bottle of scotch!
